Title: G20 comp
Post by: Brassjunkie on March 26 2019 05:03:43 PM MDT
I Picked up a double diamond threaded barrel- after I modified it to feed it's a pretty solid, reliable barrel with good support.
Anyway I was considering getting a compensator for it. I've never really used a comp on my own gun so I don't know how much of a difference it would make. Mr Carver says around a 40% decrease in felt recoil and much less muzzle movement. Mr Carvers a hot shit- guy called me on a Saturday and we talked for an hour and 2 minutes mostly about older smith revolvers.
I would be getting a Carver comp unless someone has a much better option
Does anyone have any cons for using a comp for mildly competitive target shooting when quickness is always better. I understand the blow back will decrease but I have a 17,19,21 and 25lb recoil spring
I must say the G20 with a pretty hot load slows me down on the plates. Twice as long as with my Cantik 9mm.
On a different topic- the Cantik tp9sf is possibly the best semiauto 9 for under $400. Mines 2.5 years old with at least 6000 hot rnds thru her and still flawless function.
Ok I've rambled enough, thanks for any input :)

skip to 16:40 to see slow motion of non compensated and compensated. It's a LWD compensator but you can see a difference in recoil

I don't know of a better option.

Watching the video makes me wish for a third comparable...a non-compensating muzzle device of the same weight on the end of the threaded barrel.  I am not questioning that the comp will have a bigger impact, I would just like to see the amount of difference the weight + directed gas mass makes versus just weight alone.

I got the lone wolf comp in the other day and to be honest it doesn't weigh much its aluminum. If you'd like I'll weigh it tomorrow. I'm getting my slide in the morning so I could compare it to the weight of the thread protector.
