Is the 10mm frame the same size as their 40cal xdm frame?

Pretty sure it is the same frame as the 45 XDm.  Not sure if that frame is shared with the 40 or not.

Identical to the 45 ACp frame. The slide actually interchanges with my older 45 XD.

You took the words out of my mouth.  I've got a .45 xdm that is a great gun... but... then I pick up my 1911, and I ask myself "why did I buy something else?"

Count me in with the OP. When they hit the shelves I got to shoot the XDM... Didn't wow me enough to give up the TACOPS... or any of my 10mm 1911's.. If I had grown up with plastic guns then I might be more impressed.

But at least it keeps the 10mm alive with a newer generation of shooters who see 1911's as Grandpas gun that belongs in a museum.. >:D

I too like the 1911 platform. Tangfolio is a great platform also. While many like polymer, I personally prefer steel. I've had my Kimber for over 5 years now without any issues (except for getting trolled by Kimber haters on the internet). The Sig TACOPS is a nice pistol and with 4 mags, it's even better.
Congratulations on your 1911!

I'm with you guys. my Witness Steel is a lot better shooter and has less recoil than my XDM. I was wondering what I was going to do with two 10 mm hunting pistols. so I decided to put a red dot on the XDM and use it in low light hunts and keep the Witness in iron sights for mid day hunts.  kind of similar to what I had to do to keep to keep from favoring only one of my 300 Black Out firearms, I dedicated the AR pistol to sub sonics suppressed, the AR carbine is sighted in for 125 gr. bullets and the Mini 14 eats 150 gr. bullets. ;D

I don't think there's anything to worry when it comes 10mm life.  While maybe it took 25 years to come moderate visibility, it seems it only took a relatively few more to get a real life. That beautiful 1911 from Sig you got is from a company that's been able to introduce a lot of somewhat specialized or risky market entrants, IMO, but to do it's 1911 and 220 in 10 really says something. And at very non-custom-shop, we-milled-these-frames-one-at-a-time-in-the-Bridgeport prices.  It's good to see.  A good number of options out there now.

What I don't quite understand is why polymer has to equate to striker-fired...or to a trigger that feels like a marshmallow. Seems there are advantages to polymer (for a manufacturer) and yet one could offer a lot more when it comes to feel.  I don't think trigger feels means as much as many seem to think, but it's nice to not notice the trigger.
