Title: .40 Super: What's the deal on that?
Post by: chucky2 on March 02 2013 07:44:53 PM MST
I always thought there was just 10mm first, and then along came .40 S&W, The End.  Checking out Underwood's site, I see that he has a .40 Super category and some of the loads look to be faster at same grain than even 10mm.  Questions:

1.) Can .40 Super be fired out of the stock Glock barrel safely like .40 S&W can?

2.) Can .40 Super be fired out of something like a 10mm->.40 S&W KKM conversion barrel?

3.) I realize that .40 Super is very likely something recent, but, what is the point of shooting 10mm instead of just shooting .40 Super?

Thanks for bearing with me!

Chuck

So what I got from that is that .40 Super can't be fired out of a gun that is chambered for .40, but rather, is chambered for .45 and has a .45->.40 Super conversion barrel?

What is the point of .40 Super then if .45 Super exists?

because the 40 has more power, I have the barrel but waiting for my 10rd magazines from rock your glock, the 13rd magazines will not feed the ammo correctly.

In my opinion, if you're going to go .40 Super, then why not just go .460 Rowland?

Or wildcat your own by necking a .460 Rowland down to .400.  That would give you a 40,000 PSI cartridge with LOTS of case volume.  You would attain some astounding velocities with that.

You could probably use a 40 super reamer and run it a little deep, and 40 super dies set just a little shallow.
