Wonder if it's bonded.

Bullet kinda favors the Ranger T or Ranger Bonded design.

I agree the powder appears to be the Winchester 296 which is the same as Hodgdon H-110

"plated Heavy Wall Jacket" is how Winchester describes it.. Whatever that means.  I would think Winchester would say it's bonded if it were..

I know their. 500cal bullets have a reverse taper heavy copper jacket.  They are plated with something to give them a nickle look.

Hello

Added some more pics and a video to the original post..

There was a question as to whether this bullet is bonded.  Considering how much material was lost in the jugs, I don't believe it is..

Great writeup! When I was in the firearms industry (large midwest outfitter) we were told by the people at Winchester that this bullet is an SXT but with a heavier jacket and a coated(proprietary)bullet to hold up to higher velocity of magnum cartridges for big game hunting. They said nothing about being bonded but that the reverse taper jacket would keep bullet together.
Looking at Rdubs recovered bullets from the water jugs it looks like impact velocity exceeded the parameters of the bullets design(although far from bullet failure). It seems the petals folded too far over for the cutting points to be effective as designed(the point of the SXT/Talons). I wonder how far he was shooting?
While I am sure it's very effective ammunition, I am wondering if it's anymore effective than a wfnhc bullet? If not its a quite expensive, but pretty.
New designs aren't always better, but they do generate income for the mfg.
Old Elmer Keith still is the guru on handgun hunting and his Kieth 250gr design in .44 is still probably one of the best bullets for big game, now only surpassed by wfn designs of hard cast lead.
