Title: Fiber optic front and adjustable rear site experience/opinions
Post by: mlk3454 on February 25 2013 07:01:28 PM MST
Looking to swap out the stock plastic sites on my G20 to extend my effective range a little for deer. Currently I feel comfortable taking shots at bow ranges but would like to extend that but I am not very consistent with the wide notched rear site I now have. Also, I am looking to possibly have an adjustable rear site as I plan on having go to rounds in different weights (165-200+) and it would be cool be able to dial each in and record that so switching to a certain load can be set without all of the range time (similar to what can be done with a rifle scope but maybe not as easily).

So, I'm looking for opinions and experiences from everyone. I currently have my eyes on Dawson's but do not know nearly 1/3 of all the possibilities. I do not want to deal with tritium either but most likely fiber up front and a blacked out or 2 dot rear.

I can only go by what was installed on my STI 10MM .
I had an all black front sight and ended up not being able to see the front sight on the shoulder of a 125 lb black hog >:(. So I had a red Fiber optic installed and have taken a bobcat at 29 yards and a few feeder destroying racoons at 10-15 yards . The rear sight is adjustable on the STI 10MM.

I really wanted same as you... Did not find anything I liked enough to purchase. I ended up with a set of Tru-glo TFO'S   I have shot my G20 out at 50 yards and it shoots POA for me.

I very much like the light colored sites and the tritium is nice at night. Cost was reasonable too. I am happy with them

I'm not sold on any specific adjustable rears. That said the closest that seems to fit the bill best is Wilson tactical fiber front and plain rear. What size front post are you guys using on your g20s? I find .215 or the next size up when searching.

I got the Williams fiber optic set and its only adjustable for windage. Red dot in front with 2 green dots rear. The elevation is about on for 200grs at 50 yds, lighter bullets will strike lower. I used the element that came as a set. So far I like it.
