Just got some everglades 180 gr jhp bullets. They look very similar to hornady 180 gr. Xtps. Has anybody used these? Can I load them the same as the xtps? I was loading xtps with 9.2 grs. Of longshot at 1.250. Any info. Appreciated.
zito1553, after looking at those bullets from Everglades they are likely the Zero Brand of projectiles. The should load and shoot very well with the 9.2 grain Longshot load and would likely work even at 9.6 grains @ 1330+ fps.
Here is the Zero Brand Bullet 180 grain JHP http://www.rozedist.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RZD&Product_Code=R134-A&Category_Code=ZBJ-40SW (http://www.rozedist.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RZD&Product_Code=R134-A&Category_Code=ZBJ-40SW)
Thank you shadow....would that be with a col of 1.250
I bought a thousand of their 165's and really liked them. I did have an issue with the hp cavity not being consistent in width which made the outside diameter a little different. This would cause them to seat at different depths. Not a huge issue but was aggravating. I switched to the 165 fmj fp for range ammo and found these to be excellent. Side by side comparison to a 165 Winchester bullet I can't tell them apart.
They look exactly like the 180gr Zero HPs sitting on my reloading bench right now.
They're a target bullet, but work well as a less expensive analog to 180gr XTPs. I've been using them with 9.3gr of Longshot @ 1.250, as Shadow mentioned in his post :) These aren't bonded bullets, so not perfectly suited for SD or hunting. They would probably work in a pinch, but the jacket would probably separate. I've weighed several and they seem very consistent.
