The G-29 does a great job and adding the Pearce grip that adds a place for the pinky finger makes a great difference in recoil control. But both the 20 SF and 29 are great pistols as 10mm brings fantastic ballistics from each pistol.?

I have long felt the G29 is more carry-able, while the G20 is more shootable. The difference in terminal ballistics is negligible.
Faster powders don't have a real world difference in barrel length. That was the one statement in the video that bugged me. It has been shown time and again in real world tests that the powder that produces the best velocities at a given barrel length at max pressure, delivers the best velocities at all (reasonable) barrel lengths.
Having the finger grooves removed from my Gen 3 G29 made it more shootable for me. Try it, you'll like it. :)
I carry my G20 concealed when the weather gets cooler, easy to conceal under a fleece top. when the weather gets warmer I carry my G29. Both guns are loaded with Underwood 165gr Gold Dots.
What Sqlbullet said. Hotter loads in the 29 are not exactly pleasant or ideal for defense shooting. The base plate finger holder helps a little but then you are almost at the grip length of the 20 anyway. Plus if you compare grip and slide lengths of the G20 and G17, there is no discernible difference. The only dimension that is noticeable between the G17 and 10mm Glocks is the latter are a little thicker. But thickness is the same for both 10mm Glocks so you won't be getting any concealment benefit between the two there.
I always felt if you can carry a G17, the G20 is equally feasible for the same scenario. A little big for IWB or concealed street carry for most, but for winter months under a jacket or outdoor activities in a owb pancake type concealed holster it should be more than fine. You asked about use in woods carry, so you'll probably be less concerned with a little printing and inclined to use high speed heavy outdoors loads. In that scenario the G20 for sure.
I bought the G20 because it fit my grip better than the 29, I dropped in a fluted Lone Wolf 6" barrel for the improved ballistics.
Carrying now in the field is a substantial size and weight savings compared to my Blackhawk .41 magnum and the "longer" 6" barrel is shorter than the 7" Ruger too.
Durability, high capacity, and an improved ballistic profile with just a simple barrel swap.....what's not to like about this Glock compared to the 4+ pound Ruger?
The Ruger is a very smooth working wheel gun with an excellent trigger and great accuracy but it's a beast on your hip after a day on the trail.

The 29 is definitely more carry friendly. You can get an X-Grip to slip on a G20 magazine to give it a full size grip. Then throw a 4.6" barrel in it, and you basically have a G20 for the woods. Swap it back out and you have a concealable defense weapon.
