Good post.

Too bad they didn't test any ammo that was actually 10mm ballistically.  I would love to see some 180 and 200 grain XTP's at 1300+ and 1150+ fps respectively.

Ditto. Although the Sig 180 v crowns and Speer 200 gold dots look pretty wicked for any people problems!

It's very interesting to me that the Federal Trophy Bond didn't do well in this test at all.  Andrew tested it 3 or 4 years ago in actual ballistics gel and it did quite well.  Now that I think about it, Andrew may not have used heavy cloths or 4 layer denim as was used in this protocol.

May still be good stuff for hunting but based on this test, I won't be relying on this in any other capacity beyond hunting.

I'd like to find more info on Underwood's 165gr bonded HP, and how well it performs, considering that's my current carry rd.
Thanks

Ken

Absolutely, any good links would be great, the two I found on UW 165gr bonded were were ballistic blocks doing their thing with little info, Lol
Thanks

10mm Underwood or Double Tap 165gr Gold Dot is good medicine.  Lots of blast & noticeable recoil but no problem if you train for it.  Until very recently it was stoked in the pipe and magazine of my home defense 10mm.  Recently been toning down the HD loads a little from nuclear levels and Hornady 180gr XTP is in the pipe and magazine at the moment.  The UW 165gr Gold Dots are still a favorite and reload magazine of them is at hand.

Looks like Hornady 180's would be good for 2 legged threats and Speer Gold Dot 200's would be good for deer.

Hey tcecil,
It's tough to beat Underwood's 180, or 200gr XTP for 150 - 250lb deer
