So I contacted S&W expressing my interest if they were to offer an M&P in 10mm. Kind of a lackluster response.

Perhaps some of the members here could join in and let them know there is an interest? I think it would be a bit of a hoot if S&W beat Springfield to the punch. Can't imagine that it would be too difficult for them to convert a M&P .45 to 10mm. Slide assembly and Mags would probably cover it.
Yes I have emailed and blasted them for the 10mm M&P ever since the first M&P was put out...
Glad others are beating on their door too. However they have no 10mm contract we will never see one for sale. :(
S&W can be a little frustrating when it comes to new model development. Look at the model 69. A 5 shot, L frame, 4.25", .44magnum. The engineering in that had to be huge compared to a M&P 10mm. I seriously doubt there's a huge market for that beast as it's only real purpose is a bear gun. No great need either as the 629 gives you 6 shots and isn't that much bigger.
Maybe if we pester them enough S&W, or some other company, will make a 10mm slide assembly and mags to fit a M&P .45. I would be willing to buy a used M&P .45 just to do that.
I have hit them up for one every few months for the past 3-4 years. Even tried to get them to consider a special edition 10th anniversary 10mm MP.
ZERO chance it will happen until Springfield or another big company gets off their rear and makes a poly 10mm. This is ultimately what I was hoping for with the supposed but probably dead XDM. That Smith would take note and finally offer a MP 10mm.
I'm not sure I'd want a 10mm M&P. I have one in .357 Sig and it's not pleasant to shoot. I can only imagine how much more recoil you'll feel from a 10. I've shot a Glock 20 and 29 before and didn't like those either, especially the 29. My 1076, on the other hand, I'll shoot all day with heavy loads.
A Sub-compact Glock in 357 Sig (G33?) holds the honor of the least pleasant semi-auto handgun to shoot I have ever handled. It belonged to a neighbor, we were shooting at an indoor range and it was hard recoiling and had a sharp and loud report. Even compared to my G29.

I would think a M&P 10mm would be very similar to the .357 Sig in the area of felt recoil. That said, I'd still like a 10mm M&P for it's superior ergonomics over the Glock 20. For extended shooting sessions, I like my all steel 10mm 1911s too. For a walking around the woods or truck gun, I think a 10mm M&P would be hard to beat.
I personally believe the M&P series needs to go away from the market. S&W used to make great semi auto handguns 1006 and 1076 in 10mm ( there are more in 10mm) the 59 series and the 39 series were the hallmark of gun design for many years. The revolvers are unmatched in quality and durability. They just Fed up when they tried for a piece of Glock's market share. The only reason I would buy an M&P is to give to someone I do not like, or care if the die.
Yep, really did not care for my M&P 9mm Shield either. It shot plenty accurately, but for some reason I disliked it enough to sell it
I have a shield in 9mm and in 45 ACP. I bought them last year when they were stupid cheap after rebate. I am into the pair less than $300.
I don't care for them, but they are small and thin, and are reliable. They would make great deep cover back-up guns.
Absolutely
While I don't particularly care for the Shields, I really like my M&P 9 full size. A little tweak from Apex Tactical and some TFO sights and it's a great shooter. It's been utterly reliable and shockingly accurate. I use it in steel shoots all the time.
To each their own, but a M&P 10mm in a M&P 45 size gun for similar money would make me forget all about an XD 10mm.
'member when you absolutely could not keep up with all of the almost weekly different models S&W popped out there? Now, they seem old & staid.

Pretty much, yes. They still offer an almost ridiculous array of revolvers, but they seem to have limited their polymer gun efforts to the current M&P offerings. Still hoping for a M&P 10mm :D
