Moonclips were out of stock last time I checked so I decided to 3d print some. We have a Markforged printer at work which uses a nylon mixed with carbon fiber bits as a base plastic. You can also reinforce with carbon fiber strings but due to the small geometry on the moonclips I was unable to reinforce them. I did thicken them up around the rim of the cartridge and the final version turned out fairly rigid.
While I was designing these I also came up with a 2 piece moonclip holder that attaches to your belt. Moonclip sits in the lower piece that hangs from your belt. The lid is held on by a pair of magnets, easy to get off but can also hold a moonclip in if the holder is upside down. Been wearing them the last couple of camping trips and they seem to work well at keeping the dust and dirt out and once on you can't tell they are there.

Have you used them? What is the service life for plastic? These revolvers get very hot in a short amount of shooting of 10mm.

So far so good. Best part is they are .19 cents in material. I put about 100 rounds thru my GP100 last weekend using 1 ss moonclip and 3 of the printed moonclips and could not tell which style moonclip was installed. Ejection felt the same. Really the only difference is when loading. The SS clips are slightly more rigid so depending on how you hold the plastic clip there may be a little "sag" so you have to wiggle the rounds in a bit. Still way faster than loading one at a time. I can't shoot this thing fast enough to heat it up much so I don't see heat being a problem unless you are competing with it. FWIW the Onyx material has a heat deflection point of 145 deg.
Thank you for the quick feedback. I put 200 rounds through mine in less than an hour. Trust me the stainless steel gets hot. Had the same thing with my original duty issue S&W M66 shooting 357 magnums for Qualification. The cylinder got so hot you can't touch it.

Molle moonclip holder. I retrofitted my safe door with a molle panel. Designed this to maximize panel usage. This assembly clips to a section of molley and hold a single loaded moonclip. Print the two pieces and super glue them together.
