Title: Winchester RA10MM Subsonic
Post by: s0nspark on January 01 2013 03:05:52 PM MST

My brother-in-law used to own a Smith 1006 years ago and he recently found some leftover ammo he still had. Anybody have any experience with this stuff? Interesting that it is subsonic... Judging from the price written on the box this stuff dates way back ;-)

It should be fun, if nothing else, to compare to some of the Underwood I have!

I saw some of this advertised on Gunbroker recently. It was worth a whole lot more than the $16.95 your BIL paid for it.

Edit: I just noticed a lot of it had been fired. Ah well. Enjoy!

Was probably loaded to the 950fps - 980fps, the bullet is simular to the Black Talon SXT ammo design but without the black, reverse-tapered Lubealoy-coated bullet jacket that folds back around the hollow point into six keenly-pointed "talons"

Same ammo, slightly newer box:

I had fired some .40 cal of this stuff my brother had picked up for me. Wish I had 10mm.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he just didn't shoot it up but hey, that is at least a mag's worth for me, not counting the brass :-)

As others have mentioned this would have been Winchesters version of the FBI load.  180gr jhp at 950 fps.

Winchester had other versions too.
