Title: 10mm Super ?
Post by: Swoobie on January 01 2013 09:42:18 AM MST
Hi - I'm new to the forum, but have been searching for a group like this for a long time.

Does anyone have any experience with a 10mm Super?  20 years ago in Austin, TX, I picked up a Colt Delta Gold Cup in bright stainless - it has engine turned barrel and small parts along with an engraved slide "10mm Super".  I'm trying to figure out who made it and what the modifications were...

Thanks all.

I've heard of 40 Super, 10mm Express, and 10mm Magnum but not the 10mm Super. Post some pictures.

Welcome to the forum Swoobie! 8)  Wish I had a quick answer for you, but like P33v3, I haven't heard of 10mm Super either.

It would be great if you could post some pictures.  Being the slide is engraved, I'm wondering if it was custom engraved and the gun is chambered for 10mm Auto, but the customer maybe thought it would be cool to have it read 10mm Super?  I don't know, just pure speculation on my part.

Either way some pics would be great if you have a camera.  If you do have a camera, but don't know how to post pics, just let us know and we'll walk you through the process.

I believe you are correct the gun digests all 10mm commercial rounds with no problem, I don't believe it is a wildcat chambering.  I would like to know who did the work - I'm away from the gun, but will try to post some pictures soon.

Sounds good.  Definitely interested in seeing pictures.

Swoobie's problem illustrates why I am not a huge fan of that type of custom engraving.  It creates confusion.  Get you SO's name or clever expression and I have no problem.  But something that can muddy the water about what the gun is chambered for is bad mojo.

Too bad the barrel isn't marked.

I was thinking the same thing.  Is the barrel marked on any 1911 style platform?

Usually stamped on the hood.  When I converted my Para I polished the marking off, and still need to get it into an engraver to put 10mm Auto on the hood.
