Can anyone with experience using these Dan Wesson 10mm's share their experience - Razorback, Silverback, Valor? Which one (if you could only get one) would you select? Thanks
Yep, very interested in learning more about the Razorback as well
Thanks
Ken
Target/ range gun or more of a "social" situation gun?
The features between the two kinda define the Silverback as more of a target/range gun, with the Valor being more duty/carry oriented. Both will work fine in the "alternate" role, but that would be the deciding factor for me.
The Razorback is just less "refined" than the other two. This translates into lower priced sights, less checkering, etc. No decrease in quality, just features.
If you are like me at all, part of the decision between models gets driven by price and availability at the time I am ready to buy. All three of these are fine firearms. In the raw features that align with how I would use the gun, the Valor would be the pick for me. But that doesn't mean I might not end up with one of the other two if they were available and the Valor was not.
Intent was can count on when needed- that may be all three, was wondering if valor, had more multi shot precision -but again that could be all of them-they all look great
I think they will all score great on reliability. Valor has features that scream duty/hard use to me. The extra 25 LPI stipling where others have lines or have just bead blasted steel. It has a fixed sight, but not a Novak, but rather one with a ledge to facilitate one hand operation of the slide.
And, there are a bunch of Valor's on gunbroker at the moment. :-)
Thank you sqlbullet
I think the Valor would be my choice but it is hard to go wrong with a DW.
My buddy has the Silverback. Says it's not only his favorite 10mm, but is his favorite handgun.
Yep, one of the DW's will most likely be my next 10

Your buddy is brilliant. My Silverback is up for any challenge. I've had a 45acp vbob in the past and the extra details on the Silverback are highly appreciated. 1. I love the sights inc'l adjustability and 2. the flushed slide stop is very nice.
Both the Valor and Silverback come checkered. Just a personal opinion, but the checkering is a required thing on my 1911s stouter than 9mm. I do run Hogue (Pearce actually) wraparounds on my doublestacks till I find someone I trust to fix (yes, checker) that front strap correctly. I would not bring home a Razorback without committing to get it checkered right away.
Thanks Dred
I recently posted an effusive report on my experience and opinion of my Razorback
so I won't bore with another. So far only regret is not getting one sooner.
Lack of checkering on front strap wasnt as much an issue for me as the cocobolo
wood grips which for me got a little slippery when sweating or hands wet.
I switched them out for some aftermarket grips with better texture and fixed
my perceived grip concern.
The Valor is way sweet, but a little high when my wife is looking at new furniture, will likely have to settle for one of the other two; better a happy wife than a really nice pistol....I'll just keep telling my self that, Lol
Thank you lots of input--Could the Valor be the way to go if funds are there? I wonder of there are 10 plus round magazines for it--Wilson combat.
I know you listed specific models but have you given any thought to the Bruin? The longer slide and sight base with increased velocity is a huge bonus.

Tripp Research makes some. And I think they are now a Wilson company.
The Valor, absolutely, would get one in a heartbeat if I could justify it; bigger / other fish to fry at the moment
Of those mentioned the Valor is what I would get.
I handled a Specialist today and oh my.......

Chip McCormick was recently bought by Wilson but I think Virgil Tripp still owns Tripp Research.

Yep. That is what I was thinking of. So, still Tripp 10 rounders but not Wilson owned.

I bought a Bruin earlier this spring. Amazing pistol and was my first Dan Wesson ever. Now I wonder why I waited so long to try a Dan Wesson.
Great input from all--decided to go with a 5 inch Stainless 10mm Valor--ill putt pics up after a test drive break in period
I have a Silverback and a Specialist Commander in 10mm. I do not have any experience with the Razorback or the Valor. I like the Silverback, except for one major issue. It doesn't have a rail for a weapon mounted light. That really sucks and is a major let down. If the Valor has a rail, I'd say get the Valor because it has a reputation of being one of Dan Wesson's best lines of 1911 pistol. I've read, and the price confirms it, that the Silverback is a better pistol than the Razorback. So, based only on the three choices you gave, I'd get the Valor or the Silverback depending on what you're looking for.
I'm hoping they make a 6" threaded barrel model in 10mm at some point.

They are coming out with the Kanati next year, it will be a 6" double stack 10mm with a threaded barrel.
Tell me more about this Kanati 6", was not able to find much if anything on it when searching
Thanks
Ken

Being a 6" double stack I would expect MSRP to be north of $2500.

It will be an enhanced Fury kind of, six inch long slide, threaded barrel, dust cover ramped (like the Bruin), Trijicon RMR type 2, suppressor sights, double stack 10mm 18+1 (with the mag extension, 16+1 normal) Ion bonded.

Yes, well north of $2500.
I have a Bruin and it is a 10+ on a scale of 10. Incredibly accurate and mild to shoot.
The Valor is a great platform, but the other 2 models aren't even in the same league as the Bruin.
(Just my opinion)
Of course, I ain't carrying this beast :)
All I can say is my very first 10mm was the Razorback. I got it instead of the Pointman (no longer made I think) because I thought it LOOKED a lot snazzier than the Pointman, which looked more like a traditional 1911.
