Title: Ordered some Fenix 10mm ammo
Post by: Olgo on May 01 2018 08:38:41 AM MDT
2x 10mm 180 training and 1x 10mm 180 GD.  8)

$22 for 50 rounds of full house 10mm? Sounds good.

I hope they do well in my G29. Only one way to find out.  ;D

What do you mean "full house?"  S&Bs go for around 30¢/round at 540 ft-lbs. Not as good as the Sig at 625 ft-lbs, but it's not 50¢/round either.

It's 1375 fps for 756 fpe. I'd say that's full house.

Good luck with them! Hold on tight... they will be more than a handful in a G29!

What day?

I run a completely unrelated (sickbikeparts.com) essentially web based company, and response times over 24 hours are unsatisfactory. Companies can and do run out of stock, especially busy small companies with a high number of SKU's -  inventory management is very difficult. But still, the product should come off the site or not allow orders, or at the very least have a note.

If your order doesn't have stock to fill, then they should tell you pronto.

By the way, it's $22 for 50 rounds training so they're most likely reloads. $40 for 50 rounds hollow points new.

It's just in! Y'all might wanna check out Fenix Ammo yourself because what I see here is awesome. First of all, the site says 1375 fps but on the box it's 1300 fps. This is the same with Uw 10mm 180 ammo.

The box is something else as you will see. The FMJs are in new Starline brass (not reloads as I thought) as are the FXPs. Very impressive. The FXPs have a large cavity as you will see here.

I'm gonna shoot a box at the range tomorrow so there will be a report. Til then guys.  8)

Now I can promise you they ARE full house loads. WHEW!  :o

Kicks like a mule, seems more so than the Uw 10mm 180 but maybe the same, been a while since I shot those.

Started out getting center shots so it's darn accurate but tires my hands pretty quick. Started at center for 20 rnds, took a break then shot the upper left for 10 rnds, took a break again then the lower left for 10.

The last 10 rnds went into the lower right and my hands was darn too tired to hold it still. So at the beginning of the magazines I was getting center shots then gets tiring later on.

I can rest assured that in an SD scenario my first few shots will count.  8)

this is at 25 feet:

Best part is they don't normally stay long when the 10 comes out, they give you that look like; stop it, your maken my hair vibrate every time you shot that darn thing: )

Yeah, this one has some report and muzzle blast to match.  :))

Hell, you should hear my G29 shooting 9x25 Dillon. The muzzle blast is something to behold.  8)

I tried shooting it one handed while aiming with my camera. Whoops!  :o

Hello guys!

I saw this thread pop up in our list of web referrals and I figured I would try to answer some questions based on the conversation.

1.  All of our 10mm ammunition uses factory new cases.  Recently, we switched to Jagemaan brass as they have a state of the art quality control system which uses machine vision cameras and measurement lasers to verify the dimensions of each piece of brass manufactured.  They're one of the only mid-market brass manufacturing companies in the United States that has such a machine, and we're confident in their product thus far.

2.  The 'FXP' line of products is our defensive ammunition.  We use Speer Gold Dot projectiles in all of these cartridges, regardless of caliber.  Based on our testing it's still the best performing projectile for expansion and penetration, and reasonably available in the quantities we need.  We use the same 180gr projectile in our .40 S&W ammunition.

3.  Our lead times for 'odd caliber' ammunition have been greatly reduced as of the last month due to better supplier connections.  We manufacture everything in-house, and we made a very broad variety of offerings.  We are also a family owned and operated small business without back-end support for customer service and such.  I try to answer customer inquiries as quickly as possible, but there are times when things do slip down the email inbox.  Rest assured, we take great pride in manufacturing what we think is the best 10mm ammunition for your money, and I apologize for anyone who saw a delay in receiving their orders.  We service eight local shooting ranges, we are extremely involved in IDPA/USPSA/3 Gun competition, and this summer has been a bit of a learning curve as far as anticipating order volumes.  However, we are shipping 10mm within 24-48 hours at this time.  We received an order for 1,000 rounds on Wednesday and it shipped Thursday, for example.

4.  Yes, we do load our rounds hot, just like we know you want them.  Personally, we are fans of 10mm and other calibers like .357 Sig specifically because they push the bounds of speed and energy.  If you guys have any suggestions for other projectile/load combinations, please don't hesitate to send us a message and we'll see what we can do.

We appreciate your business, thank you!

Thanks for sharing your business info with the forum here.  Many guys have expressed the potency of your 10mm products here and on Facebook's groups as well.  Jagemann's brass has shown good qualities in the testing I had done with 10mm.

I have to agree with the performance that Gold Dot bullets bring to the defensive situations.  I hoping that Speer will produce the NEW 200 grain Gold Dots out as components for companies like Fenix and the handloaders.

Best of luck in the ammunition market place, as the political winds blow from gentle breezes to EF-5 Tornado at times...

Yeah, this is good stuff. I bought a wolff 23# recoil spring to handle the power but I need a stronger mag spring to keep up with it as I was misfeeding.

I did fine with the Wolff 21# spring though. Glad you came to the 10mm forum and welcome.  8)

It's the hottest round I found so far. It'll do very serious damage to a large animal, two legged and four legged. Most likely blast through barrier with ease.

The original barrel. I think I have it confused with the 40sw barrel.

If his G-29 is like mine the factory barrel has enough support and he mentioned having the 21 lbs & 23 lbs recoil springs.  That helps with the dwell time in lock up.  I will caution that while these Glocks are CNC copies some may act differently than others allowing early unlock and increase the unsupported areas.   You need to test and inspect fired casings to see how things look.
Being a handloader helps because I can work several loadings increasing to see where things start to show case expansion above the 0.4340" of the factory chamber...

Having looked inside the Fenix ammo, it is up where others have loaded to.  But being loaded on progressive machines with powder drops the powder charge weights are up & down: example  Hodgdon LongShot  9.4/9.6/9.8/9.8/10.0 grains...

I will say when working this close to the edge of the upper performance I prefer exact precise weights (Match Grade).   In the words of Dirty Harry "A man has got to know his limitations!" ;D

Hmmm that's a bit concerning. That's a lot of variance when running at the limits.

I guess as long they don't go over the top limit. Variations are usually the norm for mass production.

If they make match grade ammo then they'll monitor the powder very closely.

Title: Re: Ordered some Fenix 10mm ammo

Our max load is 10.0 grains, and we're confident in the equipment.  Variances will always occur with production ammunition regardless of what machines are used.  To date we have not received any complaints of an overcharged round or a damaged firearm with the specifications we are using.

Looking at our data sheets, our powder checks are typically +- 0.2 grains on 10MM.  The lot numbers on our product correspond to actual data, and we keep those records for life.  Our powder drops are checked every 500 rounds for small run calibers and every 1,000-2,000 rounds for long run calibers like 9mm and .40 S&W, depending on what we're making and what equipment we're using.
