Title: What holsters are your favorites?

MTAC for me, but I use an Uncle Mike's for the woods. Would like to find a nice leather OWB, however.

My para rides in a Crossbreed Supertuck.  By far my favorite for EDC.

I like the metal clips on the CBST, but the versatility of the Minotaurs edges it out a little. Not that I would buy another kydex body, rather a whole new holster for a new gun.

Have three Comp-TAC CTAC IWB holsters, so that's my favorite. For 1911's I have to have leather and Milt Sparks VM2 works for me. My Brigade M11 is similar to the VM2 but not as refined.

If I buy a new leather IWB, I'm going to give the Stronghold Phoenix ( http://bestbelt.com/product/gunleather/1337.html ) a chance.

For an inexpensive, but capable, holster: the Shielded Holsters Double Phalanx has worked great for my G20. $50 shipped. No wait.

For the money, the Glock sport/combat holster works pretty darned well for OWB too. Good retention, rides nice and tight. $12. I keep one on my range bag just for whenever.

For carry, I'm a big fan of the Comptac Infidel. It is the kydex version of everyone's Summer Special. One of the biggest reasons I like it so much is how easy in comes off and on. Can put it on while seated in a car. Can't do that with a lot of holsters!

I'm using a Bianchi Cruiser accumold holster for IPSC work along with a Bianchi duty style belt and mag holders..  I have a Gould and Goodrich paddle style as well should I decide to carry.

Using a S&W 1006, big honkin' pistol.

On the hip, I prefer Kramer or Wilson.

For backup Pocket Rockets (Rohrbaugh R9's) I use Meco and Del Fatti.

I love the crossbreed holster. So comfortable I forget it's there. I have to check every once and a while to make sure it's still on me.

Man, I don't know how old JackAss holsters are.  I believe they are pre-80's like back in the 70's if not before.

I just looked at mine closer and it is Not a JackAss, it is a Galco Miami Classic.

I use the Galco Concealable OWB for the Glock 29. Took a shot in the dark and got lucky. I wanted something without a top strap and trusted the Galco name. No regrets after one year. Very tight when new, takes some time and effort to break in.

Looks like a good holster.

Ya know, for an "off the shelf" holster, Galco comes pretty darn close to a "custom" holster at reasonalble prices.  And that's what seems to set them apart from the competition and give them an edge.

Yeah, there are better rigs, but you will pay more.

Crossbreed(IWB), Miami Classic II(shoulder), for pocket holsters I like Meco.

my CCO/Commanders ride in this Garrity Gunleather rig with the metal clip that refuses to let go of anything.  VERY easy on/off rig.

My full size 1911s are very fond of this one from Exodus Gunleather I had made to suit me.  20 degree cant with matching dress belt.

Andrew Johnson at AKJ Concealco makes an awesome IWB holster with a really neat front strap that he has a patent on.
Unfortunately he is not in the best of health so he might not be making holsters for much longer.  Highly recommended.

http://www.concealco.com/miva/merchant.mvc

Jim Murnack at FIST holsters has a bunch of neat designs and he makes his stuff out of nice thick 8-9 oz leather, as well as kydex.
He uses the same heavy duty spring clip that Garrity does, it really works well.  Jim is a neat guy, very innovative.

Look up Nick Matthews in Texas (last I heard he was in TX).  He makes a really nice IWB leather holster with an aggressive FBI tilt which makes concealing large frame handguns a snap.   I have other favs, give me some time and I'll add them to this thread.

Somebody posted on another forum that Garrity went out of business.

Anybody know if that is true or not?

I have been carrying OWB in an RCS Phantom but just ordered a Galco KingTuk to give IWB another whirl... everything I've tried to date has been 100% kydex or 100% leather ... I am interested to see if the hybrid approach works any better for me :-)

I'm looking for a holster for my G20. Not sure if I should get another crossbreed or a nice custom leather one.

I love the crossbreed for my G27 but I don't have a "real" custom leather holster yet.

Just a leather blackhawk for my 1911.

The only reason I went with the Galco instead of the Supertuck was cost - I've bought so many holsters that didn't work for me that I am not optimistic about anything new anymore :-)

Appendix carry was a bust for me, at least for now... I bought many holsters (Comp-Tac 2 O'Clock, High Noon Public Secret and Mr. Softy, Blackhawk CQC, Fricke Archangel, CCC Shaggy and most recently RCS Vanguard and Vanguard 2) but just couldn't get to a point where I could conceal well enough. The only ones I've held onto are the Vanguards... they were the most minimal.

Given how I must dress I just do better right now carrying behind the hip. I really hope the hybrid thing works out. Ok, I guess I am slightly optimistic after all :-)

I carry about 4:00, so just barely around the turn of the hip.

If you want a deal, check out crossbreed's seconds (http://www.crossbreedseconds.com/) website.

That's a great link SB, especially for  someone looking  for a deal on a Crossbreed.  Not like other manufactuers with just a handful of seconds, but a ton!  And quite a selection too.

A friend turned be onto the site after I purchased my first Crossbreed about a year ago.  I just ordered from there.

For those who may want to use them, when you click "buy" it reserves the holster for 10 days and you get an invoice to print.  You have to mail them money within those 10 days with a copy of the invoice.  They won't do credit cards or paypal at the prices on the seconds site.

I will post pics when it gets here.

For my G20 with 5.15" extended barrel, I use a Bianchi military issue flap holster for the M9.  Fits perfect and is great for range or woods.

Woods:  The Blackhawk chest holster allows you to walk for long periods with the gun supported from your shoulders.  It can be positioned at different places on the chest and at different angles for personal preference.  It also has a holder for and extra magazine right next to the gun.  The holster protects the trigger from accidental engagement and a strap and quick release buckle hold the weapon snug.  I use it frequently in Alaska for hiking and fishing when wearing waders.

Conceal:  The Blackhawk Serpa.  Attachment for belt or pancake.  Holds it tightly.  Fast draw.  Rugged.

This.

I've grown very fond of the Serpa + QD system.  It works very well for all but printed conceal.  Maximum positive retention (with adjustable passive retention), fastest natural draw, versatile, rugged, infinitely adjustable, safe.  The QD system adds convenient, secure holstering, anywhere (person, place, vehicle).  I prefer flat black (blends with Glock), but other colors and textures are available for most common frames.  Mid-range expense, but well worth the quality.  There are only 2 drawbacks that I've found:  It is a rigid system; and off-hand draw requires a lot of practice.

The King Tuk was a bust for me - it didn't conceal very well where I wanted to place it and I about had to dislocate my shoulder to get the thing on ;-) I did get a nice kydex OWB for my G20 + X300 from Vigilance Tactical that I will use for woods carry.

For concealed carry I have gone back to using the Vanguard 2 in the appendix position. I find my G20 is noticeably more comfortable to carry this way but it can be harder to conceal without a cover garment. Maybe I need to have someone cut down the grip on one of my G20s to accept G29 mags and dub it a G29L :-)

After more extended use my quibbles with the Vanguard 2 are small. Sometimes the muzzle will dig into my thigh when I sit and I have to shift it over slightly. On occasion the front sight will snag on my pants on the draw, but that may be me turning the gun slightly before clearing my clothing... Also the Vanguard 2 is really not suitable for training due to the reholstering process. I'm currently using a Bladetech Nano for that.

My next holster will most likely be a Desbiens Gunleather AIWB #4 Hardcore RC or perhaps a kydex holster of similar design if I can find one. Then again I may just roll on with the Vanguard 2... I am happy enough right now just having something that is working!

BIANCHI all the way...

There are a couple others where I like a model or two. for example Double Diamond Chest Holster...

One of my long time favorites. This one has been with me for almost 25 years, I carried my Commander in it daily for almost 6 years..

MY singular complaint is they where never offered in BLK.

But picking just one, its gotta be Bianchi and then, older lined models!

Here is a cross draw.

I hate to admit this but my cheap leather Tagau Holsters all 3 left handed thumb break are what my Glocks ride in. For the 35.00 each I gave for them I feel like I stole them. They are custom fit, easily concealable if you want especially the on for the model 29.I just wear them on my belt with a shirt or jacket. I carry all the time for pleasure and work and I am sure there are many better but these are so comfortable its going to be hard foe me to change. I would like to have a shoulder holster that would go under a sport coat. I am 5 8 about 170. Anybody with any ideas. Small so hard to completely hide under a sport jacket or business suit.

Carry my Sig 238 in a kusiak holster for deep concealment or my high noon for combat grip. Tried kydex but always fall back on my leathers.
