Title: Best overall length for a variety of pistols
Post by: Kenk on April 27 2018 07:49:32 AM MDT
Considering some pistols feed better with different OAL's, is there such thing as one that will work across the board (for the most part that is), say 1.25, let's say the bullet being used was a 180gr XTP, or HAP
Thanks

Ken

I have used 1.2500 almost exclusively for mine.  While the SAAMI spec is 1.2500" - 1.2600", we have noted some varying COL's which seem to be bullet specific.  Example, Wide Flat Nose types 0.320" and 0.330" where they need more "Tipping Angle" or better magazine fitting and they were 1.2400" - 1.2420" give or take.  However some guns would handle them loaded at 1.2500" - 1.2600 just fine...

I refer you to this page of data: http://10mm-firearms.com/reloading-10mm-ammo/bullet-feeding-design-issues/msg71134/#msg71134 (http://10mm-firearms.com/reloading-10mm-ammo/bullet-feeding-design-issues/msg71134/#msg71134)
