Title: Fresh jug of Blue Dot / different lot work up
Post by: Kenk on March 05 2018 03:48:32 PM MST
Because I do not buy power in bulk at this point, one pound of Blue Dot at a time in this instance, is it critical that I go all the way back to the 180gr HAP min load starting point? I am currently loading 10.4gr Blue Dot under 180gr HAP. These rd's are being used in a Gen 4 G20, with a factory length KKM barrel. Because I am not even close to the "11gr max" is jumping into the new bottle of BD at 10.4 reasonable?, as this powder weight is like perfect : )
Thanks folks!

Ken

The book answer is reduce 10% and work up unless the lot numbers are the same.

The reality is I usually don't.  I load 10 or so with using the same load data, the chronograph them.  Unless the velocity averages are really different, I forge ahead rather than work back up.
