Title: Primers
Post by: Sailormilan2 on February 09 2018 08:02:38 AM MST
Due to constant primer cratering, which I think is caused by the use of the smaller 9mm firing pin, I am considering trying to some large rifle primers in my hotter 10mm loads.  Similar to what people do with the 38 Super and the 9x23.  Before I do this, has anyone tried it?

I would go pistol magnum before I went rifle.  Rifle primers are taller and may not seat correctly.  This will be worse with large primers versus the small primers used in the 38 super and 9X23.

I would also not worry about some cratering unless the occasional primer was rupturing.  I tend to have a bit of cratering with max loads as well, but nothing every ruptures, and the cratering is not extreme.  I don't fix things that aren't actually causing problems.
