Title: 10mm vs 357 magnum in gel video
Post by: my_old_glock on January 26 2018 03:59:23 PM MST

I found a video on Youtube comparing the 357 magnum to 10mm in a gel block. All ammo was Underwood.

Looks like they are about equal in performance.

cool video. I would love to have some gel blocks to shoot up.

Cool dude and video.  I like the way he laughs at himself.

The 200 grain XTP shows some penetration. More than when TNoutdoors9 tested it.

Noticed the deep penetration for all of the rounds as well.....   Hypothesize it's largely attributable to the "Clear Ballistics Gel"...  It's well documented to permit a bit deeper penetration vs 10% ordinance (porcine) gel.  Seem to recall Underwood backing down those 200gr XTP just a small step from the hairy edge too, and that may be a contributor as well.

Kentucky Ballistics frequently features 10mm shot into various media.  He definitely doesn't follow established protocols but also doesn't serminize on his conclusions and results.
Light hearted fun videos from a guy that likes to shoot stuff side by side compare and see what happens.

Good point....I forgot Underwood had toned their ammo down a notch. Could be the reason for the increased penetration along with the clear ballistics gel as you mentioned.
