Springfield Armory making an announcement Dec 15th! Only guessing and no idea if it is a 10mm...

If they release another 1911 10mm >:(
(https://i.imgur.com/cOMj3.gif)
Come IC, there are only about 50 companies making 1911's in 10mm. If ever there were a market segment that needed better and more representation, it is definitely a 1911 in 10mm. :P
It could be some play on XD, like the XD-X. I can hope anyway.
Just read that Remington is on the verge of bankruptcy with $1 billion in debt. Guess they shouldn't have had such a limited selection. Just checked their website and they have 4 models of handgun available. Of course one of them is a 1911 and none are revolvers. It's no different over at Smith & Wesson, Colt and Ruger. The American companies push 1911's all day. The foreign companies are pushing polymer, lightweight high capacity modern guns that are being used by the average shooter to law enforcement agencies. The prices are crazy too. American guns are over priced.
If it's a 10mm hopefully it's a Commander size! :D
If they do, look for it to be $2,000 ;D
It's an XD-M in 10mm as well as a 1911 in 10mm.
There are a number of links from earlier in the year discussing Springfield's intentions. The first I find was:
http://www.guns.com/2017/02/26/springfield-armory-drops-news-of-future-10mm-xdm-1911/
There are a few more to the dame effect but all are from much earlier in the year. Their website shows nothing new.

The letter "X" means 10 in roman numerals.
.
I get all that. I was just wondering if some back channel leak had been documented.
Jeff Quinn said no new pistols this year. Maybe it's a rifle!
Revolver :o
Quote from above,'Jeff Quinn said no new pistols this year.' 2017 ? Well 2018 is just a few weeks away.
As long as this company has the same leadership, I will buy nothing from them. I have not forgotten what kind of tripe they tried to get through the IL legislature. I will not give them dollar one, that they can then give to some anti 2A IL state legislator. A pox on them and Rock River Arms.
He said Shot Show which carries into 2018 ;)
SavageOne, like you I was deeply bothered by the initial reports about SA and RRA withdrawing opposition to IL SB-1657. Certainly seemed like a sell-out.
But, based on other information I have read after the furor died down, it appears to me that IFMA acted without it's benefactors knowledge or support in removing opposition. Once it came to the attention of the leadership of these companies, they set the record straight.
Perhaps that was pandering. IFMA has not produced any documentation indicating that SA or RRA were complicit in the decision to withdraw opposition, and those companies have made their opposition clear.

The hint on FB today this sure looks like a 10mm I sure hope it's a XDS 10mm that would make me very ;D
Yeah...that is a 10mm case for sure.

It has been reported that, at least in 2012, the CEO of SA, Dennis Reese, was also on the board of IFMA. During that year a large amount of money was given to Anti 2A pols in IL. I have seen no evidence that Reese ever stepped down from that board and in fact in his video "coming to God" moment said that they had disbanded the IFMA. How could he disband it if he wasn't a controlling part of it? There is also the statement from Reese that the lobbyist was unaware of the scope of the bill and that he shouldn't be supporting it, the lobbyist claims he was doing exactly what he was paid for. For all of these reasons I will not give on red cent to SA as long as it is in the hands of the Reese family.
I get it, SA makes some cool firearms and people want cool things. I am not condemning those who chose to do business with SA, but do not delude yourselves or try to ease your soul. You are doing business with a company that put it's profit over others' 2A rights. If you are going to do it, please don't follow SA's example...be honest about it.

Yup I am going to spend money with SA now if you think I am a nonsupporter of the 2nd Amendment you then are impinging on my freedom and insulting me without knowing me. You can do whatever you want I am ok with your freedom of choice and or ability to believe what see on the net. Peace and Merry Christmas.
XD series I hope ;D
Working closely with the board at my company, I can tell you they have very little idea about the day to day, but they certainly can effect a big change in a hurry if they decide to.
That said, I am not super well informed on the issue, and it appears you are. I was just aware that, unusually, there appeared to be media coverage for both sides of that issue. if you hadn't seen it I wanted to share.
We will see something tomorrow! :P ::)

just a few 2000$ 1911s hahaha
Nothing yet!
01deuce beat me to it on the 10mmhandgun forum, but here is the email I received from GunsAmerica overnight:
https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/springfield-1911-trp-operator-now-in-10mm-full-review/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20171215_FridayDigest_152&utm_campaign=/blog/springfield-1911-trp-operator-now-in-10mm-full-review/
Oh yay, another 1911. Yawn!
I guess no money wasted then. Buy those Tanfoglios! :P
Whoa! $1,800 for single stack 1911's! Did they do any market research on their competition!!?? Glock and Tanfoglio are probably laughing and sighing with relief this morning.
Not over joyed at the announcement but having said that I have a TRP it is a very nice weapon. I also pay just over dealer pricing so that suggested retail is just that a suggestion. The gun is purpose built not modified version of standard frame and slide. The engineering and build were using considerations often ignored by other MFG.
So I will definately buy one I am just not sure which model but most likely the 6" version. ;D
I think I would buy one in the 6" version, except they would have to lose the rail as I don't care for rails on a 1911, and give me a nice polished blue or even a stainless ;) change them 2 things and Im a player :) Wow that Federal Ammo is right up there with some of my reloads and the Underwood ammo that I use for Deer Hunting.
Another 1911 well at least it's chambered in 10mm >:( :( ??? ::)

I like 1911s. I have a Springfield 1911 Loaded that has given me years of perfect service. I like my XDs 9mm and XD45
But!
If I had @ $1,700 laying around I'd buy a second SR1911 and a truckload of Starline brass.
Sorry SA

Nice to have another longslide option, but the rail is a fail. I could BUILD my own longslide 10mm without a rail just how I want it cheaper, I think.
Frankly I don't need a rail on a CCW, only makes sense on a bedstand gun. So I'd like a slim Commander or longslide and a rail on a full size.
What exactly would anyone put on the rail? I'm just trying to get an answer to that question.

Light. Maybe a Surefire, Streamlight, or something similar. Comes in handy when walking in the woods in the dark.

Looks right at home on that... not so much on a 1911 :-[
I'll be the dissenter here. I love railed 1911s. If I were in the market I may consider one.

$1800 and no magwell? My plain old .45 TRP has one and I paid nearly half as much as they're asking for the 10mm. Here I was hoping for an XDm in 10mm, though the XDM 45 I have isn't the most pleasant gun to shoot.
Ah hell with it... Just give me a 7 or 8 shot Redhawk in 10mm, dammit.
;D

Love that SA made a new 10mm...shows progress and more 10mm on the market the better. Kinda bummed it was an 1800.00 1911 lol...would a jumped on an affordable 10mm xdm like a fat dog on a donut! Maybe 2 :o
I won't pay $1800 for a Springfield 1911 but I dang sure wouldn't give a plug nickel for an XDM.

Looks like another way to repackage the same stuff they have been making!
Even Hi-Point offered up a fresh 10mm offering :o :o
but in the comments springfield did say a 10mm xd was coming just not when
I am not a fan of Springfields XDM line, and would never buy one no matter what they offered in there package ::) What is the country that there made in :( Even if I won one I would be trading it in on a somthing else more on the lines of a S&W or Colt.
I am not a fan of the XD guns, but I would probably buy an XD 10mm if for no other reason than to send a message to other manufacturers that my dollars are available for non-1911 10mm guns. Especially ones that hold more than 10 rounds.

I would also, but no more 1911's please.
And the big news is a .380

Hahahahaha!
I didn't see that one coming. So glad they are innovating.
I don't know where it will come in on the price scale or shootability... has some stiff competition out there already!
(Almost) useless POS pistol.
I have nothing against 380ACP. I had several and still have one.
.
They have been getting hammered on their Facebook page over the last two releases. Well deserved!
Yea, there is an underserved market segment!!
Great business move guys....
if it was at least a 9 i could be more understanding .. but as said not like this part of the market isn't flooded all ready
I prefer a rail on my semi-auto pistols as I use a brass catcher when practicing. It takes some getting use to but only lost maybe 10 pieces in a year (tall grass).
A rail isn't for everyone but do have their uses.
PS: I wish Ruger or S&W would release a polymer 10mm though.
That new pocket 380 doesn't have a rail. Pass. :P
Looks just like the little SIG P238

My local store finally got a pair of the S/A 10MMs last week (one each of the 5" and 6") and I was able to handle the 5" on Saturday. Now this is merely one random guy's opinion on a sample of one, so please take that for what it is worth.
First impression was that this thing was built like a tank. It felt much more "solid" than the SR1911 10mm and even slightly tighter than the DW Silverback 10mm that it shared the case with. It also had a stiffer recoil spring (by feel) than either of the other two as well. I quite liked the "checkering" pattern as it provided a good grip without the cheese-grater effect the .45 TRP has. The trigger was a little disappointing, about equal to the Ruger but not in the same class as the Dan Wesson, nor the .45 TRP they had on the shelf. It has a little creep and grit and felt like it was in the 5.5# range. (The store owner said that the 6" was already sold but that it had a better trigger, on par with the standard TRP.)
One thing that surprised me was the slight, but noticeable, gritty feel I got when working the slide. Granted, this was fresh out of the box with no cleaning and only the factory lube, but even the store owner (a fellow 10mm fan) agreed that it was odd. The combination of the recoil spring and the grittiness kept the Wife from being able to work the slide, even with the hammer cocked, which she disliked immensely. (6' Scots-Irish Redhead who considers any failure like this a personal insult.) On the other hand, we both agreed that the sights were a big step-up from the Ruger and that the finish and grips were quite nice. She is a devotee of the house of Browning, and joins me in the dislike of a rail on any 1911, however, it doesn't look as out of place in person as it does in photos.
All the controls were fit nicely and had a very "quality" feel to them. The safety had a positive click on and off and was lacking the sharp edge all too common on the bottom of many levers. Even the left-side lever was solid without the vertical play that seems to plague ambi-safeties. And what I could see of the underneath of the slide (locked back) showed good machining and no obvious marks or swirls.
All in all, I liked it better than I thought I would. Granted, the grittiness in the slide and the trigger were a touch disappointing, and I still don't care for rails on my 1911s, but this is a solid effort from Springfield. Hopefully they will eventually offer a non-railed version as that would really appeal to me, as would a significant price drop. I know this is a brand-new model, so the $1650 tag on it didn't surprise me, but considering the Silverback was $1665, if I were to buy one today, it would be the Dan Wesson.
Actually, if I had bought something on Saturday, it would have been a JM-stamped Marlin 1895 Cowboy with the 26" octagon barrel and wood that has more figure than most Hollywood starlets these days. And I would have had enough money left over to grab the SR1911 10mm.
Good information! How did the chamber support look?

Good information! How did the chamber support look?
From visual inspection, it looked very good. It seems Springfield did their homework. Unfortunately, I was not able to field-strip the weapon and drop a round in the chamber to check. While the owner and I are on really good terms (He's even asked me to step behind the counter to help out during a rush), that might have been pushing it just a bit too far.
One thing that I forgot to mention is that I was very glad to see that it had a GI-style recoil spring plug instead of a full-length guiderod like the Wife's EMP that requires a capture tool for field stripping.
