Title: What a SIG Elite V-Crown looks like....
Post by: KZero on October 24 2017 05:15:26 PM MDT
....after penetrating almost all the way through four 1-gallon milk jugs full of water, after being launched from a P220 SE from about 10 feet:

Where the points perforated the back of the fourth jug:

"Rick's Rule of Thumb" says if a bullet makes it into the fourth gallon water jug it will leave a mark if it hits someone.   ;D

Any specs on remaining weight or expanded diameter?

Yep and water is very hard on bullets, likely equate to about 18" to 20" in calibrated gel

Not as yet, but I will eventually dig it out of my bag and I can measure and weigh it then.

Very true.  I was a little surprised at the amount of jacket separation; even though I know it's not bonded, I wasn't expecting quite this much.

It'll be interesting if I can ever get this load over a chronograph, to see if it lives up to the advertised 1250 fps.

I was excited about the V-Crowns and bought 200 rounds to begin with. After seeing how they don't open after denim, I used them as target ammo.

Interesting, that's good to know.

Any time, we're here to help each other. The V-Crowns looked very promising. But shedding the jacket and hitting little Timmy after it passes through Mr Baddy isn't a good thing.
