A while bnack i posted a question about a G20 FTF with heavy loads and found a conditional fix, this with the help of the forum. Since then Ive dragged this issue a round and have found a fix that seems to be repeatable. The reaso Im bringing this back is that there seem to be a few others with a similar issue. Spent some time on the G forum, with some posters being thoughtful and trying to help while others not so helpful. At any rate with a bit of inspiration i came up with a bit of "Farmer Engineering" that has opened the way to a useful G20. The issue was that the pistol would fire moderate loads without hesitation while those max loads designed for hunting would FTF on too many instances. Up to 9 out of 10 rounds. The fix is too add some weight to the LW barrel protruding forward of the slide. I used 2 SS hose clamps. It now feeds without hesitation although the recoil impulse seems to have changes noticeably. This suggests using a compensator or a muzzle weight for a more proper mod. Now I need to get a threaded barrel or find an economically feasable thread job.

Although, if they weight just needs to be up front, but not attached to the barrel a tungsten guide rod might also do the trick.

Interesting...
Do you think the extra weight is helping to pull the front of the barrel downward to allow the slide to return to battery?
Do you think that the rear of the barrel is too low when the slide is in full retraction and the extra weight is holding the barrel up at this point of the cycle?

The barrel locking lug maybe dragging or has too much friction slowing its motion.  Have you applied any lube to see if that makes a difference in the way the barrel tips down and back up as it relates to cycling?

My WASG is that the weight, inertia, slowws the recoil unlocking enough that the slide return is not "bounced" but controlled by the RSAS alone. This allows the magazine to move the next round up far enough for the slide to catch the head of the case, rather than riding half way up the case. Tried with the 20# spring and reliability suffered somewhat. The locking srfaces got their drop of oil so I dont think friction is issue. Hers a poor foto of the typical failure to feed.

That almost looks like the slide is not going far enough back to get behind the case head sort of a short stroke.  That issue was seen as some recoil springs would bunch up or round wire springs were too many coils to allow full travel of the slide.

I suppose that could happen , but using loads that run about 5-600 FP-KE run without a hitch, 100% reliable even with the 24# spring.  Go to 700 foot pounds and FTF can hit 80-90%. Reliabilty seems to better with the stock spring. Reliabilty fell off the more the gun was shot. It ran well at first but as the round count went up it started to hang up as the pic shows. Cleaning and dry lubing the magazine helped somewhat. Its as though the magazine couldnt push the next round up fast enough to catch the case head on the slide face. Magazines feel "lazy" and slow to me.
