Kind of debating on getting a 4.6" or 6" barrel for more energy. I'm thinking shots are going to be 30 yards or less, so the deer won't know the difference. I may just invest in a good set of sights. I'll be using the 200 grain Nosler or XTP from Underwood.
What do you guys think?
I think you would get more bang for the buck with the sights.
I'm thinking about the HD Trijicons. But I love the brass bead front and wide notch rear from some of the Vickers Glocks
Those Trijicon HD sights are great.... For shooting fast.
But they suck for carry because that rear sight is sharp as hell, I had them on my 36 that I just sold. I went with the Bright & Tough sights on the 32 that replaced it.
Now I'm leaning towards some fiber optic sights after seeing a set. The Truglo TFO sights look really nice.

TFO's it is. I'm still going to get a 4.6" barrel later on. Unless I can talk the wife into getting me a G40.
For what its worth, I just put a set of Williams fiber lite type adjustable sights on my 6" barreled G20. Love them. Gives me the option of POA=POI which is really handy. Not expensive and shoot well. They do stick up a bit, might work with a suppressor. Just make sure you Locktite the setscrews and dovetail. I wa amazed that the change gave me smaller groups fired over rest. Puzzling but welcome change.
Check out KKM barrel for the Glock 29. I am thinking the 20 barrels will not work on a 29
I hunted with my G29, pretty much stock except a little internal work and a set of the Ameriglo Hack sights.
I was walking into a stand and ran into a hog and was able to kill it instantly with a head shot.
I put a Red Dot sight on it using a dovetail mount to see if I would like it. I did and eventually got a G40 and put the red Dot on it.
With good sights and ammo and some practice there is nothing wrong with the G29 at the distances I normally take deer and hogs.

NO. LUGS ARE DIFFERENT. NOT GONNA WORK.
There's not a ton of velocity loss between the 3.78" bbl G29 and 4.6" G20, it's there but usually less than 100 fps. My point is that a longer barrel won't make it kill any better and as for sights, they have newer versions of the TFO, the TFX and the TFX Pro, which I have on my G20 Gen4.

Well I can tell you that the same load out of a 29 has a higher level of energy from the 4.6 as opposed to the 3.78. my steel target spins a full revolution from a 4.6 hit dead center. The 3.78 has to strike much lower to come close to rotation of the plate. Same gun, different barrels, same spring set. I think it could be the difference in amount of expansion in hollowpoints and it's definitely the difference in hard cast penetration.
