Morning,
If I wanted to upgrade my G20 gen 4 recoil spring so that it would cycle well with weaker factory loads, as well as with Underwood / my own hotter hand loads, what would a good (middle of the road) weight be? Also, who offers a good product that won't break the bank? URL's to the manufacturer would be helpful
Thanks in advance

Get advice on this from The_Shadow. He is one of the guru's of Glock recoil spring systems, has very specific opinions and good empirical data to back them up.
Or search the forum for posts by The_Shadow that contain the words recoil spring or RSA. He has provided this information several times.
I've been well pleased my my NDZ Performance spring.
They have much faster shipping then Glock Store or Glockmiester.
They have more options in their eBay listings than they do on there website... Or call them and order.
I can't help with spring weight for your 20, no experience with that firearm, mine is a G40.
I use the 20 pound spring to be best for me for all around.
I bought a stainless steel guide rod from LWD and an ISMI flat spring.
For Gen 4 they also sell an adapter to fit the guide rod to the larger Gen 4
fitting on the end of the slide.
LWD also sells a complete recoil assembly for Gen 4 slide.

No, it is very reliable. I've never had a malfunction of any kind with a Glock. I like the factory RSA, but for heavier loads I need to be able to install a stronger spring. The frame is made of plastic, the RS guide can be too except for spring changes it's fine.
Question. My Gen 3 15 rounders when empty won't lock slide back. 10 rounders do. Input appreciated.

I ordered the 22# stainless guide rod and the adapter bushing for the gen 4 last Thursday from Glock store and received them today. I shot 150 grain noslers with 11.5 grains of blue dot and the same bullet with 8.5 grains of unique along with 180 grain xtp's and 8 grains of unique. All performed perfect! Ejection was more consistent and closer than with the OEM spring. Recoil even seemed a little better.
Thanks Goetztalon, was your brass landing substantially closer than with the factory setup?, also, could you please post a link to the guide rod, and adapter for me, as well as what the stuff ran you
Thanks man!
I'm good at reloading but posting links I don't know how lol. Yes the brass was closer. I spread out a 8 by 10 foot tarp and stand next to it and the brass was hitting the middle of the tarp. The guide rod and adapter was from Glock store which they have in stock. I first ordered it from glockmeister but it went to back order and they couldn't tell me when they would be coming in. The one from glockmeister had the gen 4 bushing already on the rod in a one piece unit and was a little cheaper. The guide rod and bushing from Glock store was $47.40 with shipping. It took exactly one week to get. The hottest load was the 11.5 of blue dot but only a 150 grain bullet but it ran perfect! The 180 xtp with the 8.0 grains of unique isn't super hot but man talk about clean! I'm not loading super hot stuff. My Max will be in the 10.4 and up with blue dot for the 180 xtp that seems to be the perfect load for a lot of people. Hope this helps you out!
Yes, this helps a lot, and yes, 10.4gr's Of Blue Dot under a 180gr HAP or XTP offers incredible accuracy, Thanks again!
No problem! I think the 22# spring is a good compromise now that I have shot with it. The glockmeister unit goes up to 24# which I think would be over kill for what I'm loading. I don't have a chrony but listed fps I'm above 1200fps but below 1300fps so way better than standard factory like American eagle but not Underwood hot. Kind of like just right! No grizzly around here but those loads blow the heck out of gallon jugs of water lol!
Yep, love the Underwood stuff
Great Ammo for hunting Underwood
