Title: Coonan announces new satin-finished 10mm!
Post by: Zephyr on July 15 2017 08:41:13 PM MDT
This is one beautiful pistola:

It seems natural, that a company like Coonan would eventually chamber a 1911 in the vaunted 10mm cartridge.  The 'round' too tough for the FBI!

Looks great!

He skimped on his review a bit though.

With the mag well set up for 357 mag, why not go ahead and chamber it for 10mm Mag?

Just seems like the Manufacturers keep making what sells well.    ;)

Well...if I did my ciphering' right, the .357 Magnum's case (1.29") is a just a teeny-tiny bit longer than the 10mm Magnum's (1.255"). ::)

If Coonan really wants to make a statement, they should chamber their new pistol in 10mm Magnum; I mean, it ain't like they don't already have a frame large enough to do so.

Sam

Edited to add that I emailed them about this today.

I have written Coonan on several occasions about them producing a 10mm Magnum based on their 357 offering and they could even do the 9x30 barrel as well.  No response No reply...  :(

I did not know for sure if Coonan was building their 45 ACP's and 10mm's on the 357 frame or not.  Here their catalog shows that they are building them on a more standard size 1911 frame.

They could get the 10mm Mag loading by taking a 10mm slide and lengthening the ejection port and using a 357 frame.

They make longer barrels for their 357 pistols so that would help.

 I shot a 357 Coonan Classic in 357 magnum last week and it was a ton of fun to shoot. Hopefully they will do a 10mm in the Compact.
