Any of the embers here own one of these. If you do can you share your impressions?
I have had a 5.7x28 and ran a lot of rounds through them. Liked how they handled and loved the capacity. You could run that gun very fast. The lack of actual info on real performance in actual defense applications is what made me not carry them.

What is "defense wife application"?
I thought about getting a 22TCM conversion for my 1911 and Glock. I did some research and decided against it. There wasn't any benefit to that cartridge over any other cartridge. I think reloading dies weren't available at that time and factory ammo was impossible to get. There was also no one making reloading brass and I didn't feel like wasting my time cutting down 223 brass to make the cartridge.

From a pistol it is about like a 22 magnum rifle. Nuff said.
Holy cow I need to proof read.
Defensive wife situation could be a wide variety of things not one of them good .
I fixed that.
I thought it was higher velocity than the 22 magnum
brass and dies seem available but like you are eluding too it's a small game caliber.

Actually ... it IS based on the 223. It is NOT a modified 9mm. Yes, a cartridge that would cycle can be made from a 9mm case. I'm not interested in finding out how the 9mm case would hold up.
I got one from the first shipment to the US. It is fun. But, I have no practical use for the round. I do still have a single stack 9mm/22TCM combo and a Commander length double stack 22TCM. The double stack frame drives my Mechtech 10 and the slide/barrel/etc. knocks around in a parts drawer.
It freaks my labradar out. Labradar requires you to select rifle, pistol or really slow for it to find and measure your projectile. Well, 10mm reads the projectile in pistol mode for pistol or carbine. When I put down a 10 and pick up a TCM I have to reset the Labradar to rifle in order to get a reading on pistol velocity. You are looking at 2k fps+ from a 5" 1911. The 1911 sounds like a muzzle braked AR, but feels like a 22lr slide conversion - soft shooting and LOUD.
IMO, there are problems with the caliber. The first of which is an extremely limited projectile selection for the pistols. If a 40gr JSP does everything you want - that's not a problem.
I bought one of the combo RIA 9mm/22TCM pistols when it was on sale.
Fun to shoot, and very accurate.
Like dred said, "I have found no practical use for it other than fun."
I've got a single-stack combo (with 9mm barrel) and love it.
It has little felt recoil in thje steel-framed 1911 and is accurate.
It enits a fireball, but not as big as the one a Kel-Tec PMR-30 puts out (that can be seen from space! :)) ) . I imagine it would be a VERY good self-defense pistol, especially at night where it would allow you to see whether there are any other attackers in the immediate vicinity. ;)

To be clear, it is when comparing apples to apples.
That is to say, the 22 TCM from a 5" pistol (2000 fps) is about the speed of a 22WMR from a 24" rifle (1900 fps).
My point is no one considers a 22 WMR a ballistically good choice for self defense, and the TCM handguns fall ballistically in the same range as 22WMR rifles.
Ok got it.
5.7 has some track record as effective weapon but even the Sectret Servicde carries the P90 carbines.

It is made from .223 brass as I have made 1000's of them.. I had one in 22TCM/9mm combo and traded it. Anyway, I have Load data, etc posted on 22tcm.net
My mistake. Maybe I assumed it was 9mm brass since at first it was only available in RIA tcm/9mm combo only.
