Title: Littlestone 10mm Ammunition in 2013. Plant the bug now!
Post by: Intercooler on November 26 2012 05:15:22 PM MST

They said 10mm in 2013 but no specs yet. It helps if we tell them what real 10mm should be.

Best place to twist an ear is on Facebook it seems from what I have experienced. If you have a Facebook help me plant a bug!

Their prices seem a bit inflated.

They discuss their position on making self-defense rounds. Good to read. Notice "Montana Gold" is not on their list of acceptable self-defense bullets. They also say they want to make high performance rounds.

Some of their rounds have specifications that exceed Double Tap claims, most fall below.

At first glance, they've demoted their ammo business. The product index is confusing in that it intermingles ammo with shooting accessories. One must go through the index, hoping to see what they are looking for.

(You may want to let them know they mistakenly reference Golden Saber bullets under their Gold Dot offering of .40 S&W.)

Before the economic bust, Buffalo Bore pricing might have been more acceptable. But, not so much anymore. I'm not a shopper. Once I find what I want, I see no need to keep looking. So I'm not likely to be buying from them.

BTW, I understand and appreciate your desire to get the word out about 10mm ammo vendors. Internet postings led to my finding Underwood Ammo. Might be others out there.

Thanks for the info.

I think many have been let off the hook of making real 10mm ammo. The way I look at it regardless of bullet weight it needs to hit over 600 LBS to be there. Ideally that is even for practice ammo and many of the offerings have been sorted out now. I don't know what that has done for sales but I bet DoubleTap and Buffalo Bore are hurting pretty good now although that wasn't intended. I would say HPR is feeling it now too pricing their ammo out of the running. I could be wrong but we have more good ones out there than ever now and it's growing. I'm pretty excited about getting my hands on the PBR 155's when they are ready!

Did 10mm go through a period where nobody knew where the loading should be for the round? Like no published data or something to compare to?

I'm just curious because although some are coming around now (thanks to 10mm shooters) many still put out a product which isn't even in the ballpark. I can't decipher if they are cheaping out or just don't know better. Maybe it's more putting something out that works across the board.

It seems some ammo makers are coping what the handloaders are showing as tested and some are using what they could have found on the web as their loads...Just saying!  :o

The fact that you can record real life vids of velocities over a chrono, and then share it with the world via U Tube is the reason that "boutique" manufacturers will be kept accountable.

It wasn't so much a no published data period, as the rumors that flew surrounding why the FBI downloaded it for their needs.  For a long time after that all you could find was FBI-lite 10mm loadings.  It really wasn't until Double Tap that you finally started to see factory ammo that came back up to full 10mm spec.
