I just ordered a Cold Steel Black Carbon Fiber SLIM STICK Aluminum Walking Stick Cane. This is a 6 ounce can with a "golf ball" type Aluminum top knob that is mounted on a thin (7/8") down to about 5/8" near the tip. I'll wind up cutting off enough of the shaft to bring it down to 34" in length to act as a "walking aid".
This stick is handsome and looks good enough to go out with a tuxedo and white dress gloves, yet is flexible enough to swing the relatively heavy aluminum head hard enough to knock someone on their keister. The only danger to the Carbon Fiber shaft is putting it in a vise and crushing it as one would a drinking straw. This cane is lightweight, dressy and downright easy to carry. As a Walking Stick it isn't a heavy, cumbersome accouterment, but a convenient ambulatory aid and impact weapon.
I'm looking forward to owning/carrying this modern alternative to the traditional hardwood "dress walking cane" carried during the last four centuries. Aren't modern scientific advancements wonderful?
It arrived today and I immediately had it "cut down" to 34" in length. The original tip went right back into place. The top is 5/8" in diameter and the 1/2" at the bottom. The 1 1/2" aluminum ball screws right into the top. The cane is fantastic! When it arrived, it weighed 7 1/2 ounces. Now that it is 5 1/2 inches shorter, it weighs even less. The Carbon Fiber shaft is flexible, yet tough. It is so handsome that it could go out "on the town" and be right at home. If you are skilled in Modern Arnis (Filipino Stick fighting) it is light enough to make quick moves, yet the polished aluminum "golf-ball" top is solid enough to crack a skull at a moment's notice. This is a dress/daily/travel cane/stick. It has everything.
This is an marvelous accouterment, as well as an impact weapon. If you are in need of a "walking stick" you could do a heck of a lot worse. I paid $44.17 to have this shipped to my door and I was glad to pay it.
It has Captain O's "seal of approval".
