Title: GP 10mm recoil??
Post by: Duck of Death on April 15 2017 02:37:05 PM MDT
How is the rotating barrel of the GP 10mm going to reduce recoil?

As I understand it, the recoil is spread out over a longer time span, one that would not be possible with a standard Browning action without using a much larger (in pounds) recoil spring.

Advertising hype! I have 10 Tens! And of all of them with full house loads; The Star Megastar is the pussycat, followed up closely by the Smith 1006. If you count my Thureon Defense carbine, then it's the overall champ. Lol.

Well explain then full house loads with the brass 5-6 feet away. The gun does not recoil like my Glocks, Sig 220 and 1911's. I am solidly sold on the action.

Not sure that measurement of brass distance is directly related to actual measured recoil. I could be wrong..but the GP kicks harder than some of my older heavy steel guns. It just does!

Well, the recoil is much softer than my Sig 220, my Delta Elite or my RIA, and for that matter my Glocks. And the brass is found much closer. I likely am getting 95% of my brass back at a public range, all of it when I shoot at home.  It is the softest shooting 10mm I currently have.  I'm sorry you haven't had the same experience.

The rotating bolt uses more energy to function. This is the whole reason I am interested in this gun,
i.e., less recoil.

BTW Duck, cool screen name.  :D  Anytime FORGIVEN is on TV as I walk by, I sit down and watch it no matter what part of the movie is on. Great Classic!

True that..It does absorb more energy in its function. It also allows for a lower bore axis.  Hence the perceived felt recoil is helped by that. If this gun was solid steel I'm guessing it would be the recoil champ.
