A bill to amend the "stand your ground law " is being introduced in the NC House. If passed, it would require you to find methods other than deadly force including retreat. Here is a quote from one of the sponsors " The Trayvon Martin case proved that it can be used in a way to justify a killing that was unjustifiable," said Rep. Pricey Harrison (D-Guilford) ). It used to be in NC that you could claim self-defense if someone was breaking into your house but once inside, you could not shoot until the intruder did some drastic like come at you with a knife or gun but only if you could not retreat. If he did not have a weapon, you could not claim self-defense if you shot him.
I hope it will not make it past the first reading.

Let's hope this nonsense gets squashed right away.
