Title: Witness Hunter sear
Post by: 8strings8rounds on March 30 2017 12:42:23 PM MDT
Has anyone else in here done sear work on a Witness?
I have about 3 hours into mine, altogether, trying to shorten reset and lighten/smooth out the trigger pull. (I have completely gone through and polished everything)
I have even spent quality time with an aftermarket hard sear- shaping and polishing- and cannot achieve a crisp/light pull.
I have drawn the conclusion that reset directly correlates with pull, so I can't make it shorter, but I can bring the trigger back a bit by shortening the reset foot of the sear.
Can anyone measure their trigger pull?
What does your average creep feel like?
Someone help me :o

Mine averages 4.75 lbs, with 1/16" take up and no creep.  The break is a surprise every time.

I did a fluff and buff, and adjusted the overtravel and take-up using the screws.

edit - This is not the finest trigger I have ever felt.  But it is easily the best trigger I have in a $500 NIB gun.

Unfortunately, mine came as the single worst trigger I have ever owned.. And it was nearly a grand..
It's my 3rd or 4th best, now all things considered.

I must not be sensitive to it and left all mine stock. My old Match was about 2.5lbs and that was frightening!

I must not be that sensitive either. The stock set up is fine for me.

Both my 9mm full size and 40 compact witnesses have decent triggers on them, and they've never even been polished.
Everything else about the pistol was essentially flawless. And everyone seems to love them.
I wish someone else near me had one so I could see. Maybe I'm just picky lol

Never had a chance to shoot the Hunter. I own the Match and I think the single action on those two guns are the same design. It has a very nice light trigger on it. Easily the 2nd best trigger on all my guns.
