Title: How would everyone feel about an 18" barreled M1 Carbine type "light rifle'...

chambered for the 10mm Magnum cartridge? I think that something like this with 20, 30-round magazines in a backpack would make for a great  "woods walking" arrangement. This would exceed the .44 Remington Magnum in power and would handle most Deer/Black Bear/Hog Hunting within the "lower 48" states. (A 5 round hunting magazine would suffice for hunting situations).

For HD or TEOWAWKI situations the 30 round magazines would kick some serious rump.

Would love a good quality carbine in 10mm
An make it take G20 mags !  :)

Always liked matching pistol/rifle sets so ammo carry in at a minimum.

Didn't someone take M1 carbines and convert to 10mm a while back?

I would probably like a 16" barrel better.  I don't feel the velocity kick of the extra two inches would make it worth the cost in portability and handling.

But, I like the idea.

It was Tony Rumore (forum member) of Tromix Lead Delivery Systems that converted a carbine for the 10mm.  He also made a necked down 458 SOCOM for 10mm as well...

Marlin was making a Camp Carbine some years back chambered for 9mm and 45ACP, this little platform would be a great 10mm carbine...

I stated the 10mm Magnum Cartridge because of it's terminal ballistics. While the 10mm Auto is great, the 10mm Magnum would hunt deer out to 150 yards without any difficulty.

If you have the action length, 10mm to 10mm magnum is just some reamer work:-)

I'd like a 10 mm carbine along the lines of either the Marlin or the M 1 carbine.

Could you imagine this setup as a Military Short Rifle? (Think about it).

M1 in 10mm would be great with Glock Mags ...and Underwood ammo !

Using G20 mags, with the M1 Carbine action should be a winning combination.  And then with a good 25/30 round mag....  The Marlin design is still fun, but if I remember, it is a blow back design that can get dirty and become sluggish sooner than the 30Carbine.  Send me one, and a few cases of ammo, and I'll test it for free.  ;)

A 10mm Magnum would have to be used in a gas operated rifle. A blow-back operated 10mm Mag would be too heavy. A lever gun in 10mm Mag would be nice.
