Title: Old frame + new 10mm slide and barrel
Post by: russian on February 07 2017 05:52:00 AM MST
IMHO my idea to built old-fashion looking 1911.
Does it possible to install on WWI replica frame new slide with new barrel in 10mm?
Magasines will be replaced to 10mm.
Not in issue to budget but to look.
To get blued, wooden grips 1911.

I'm not the 1911 guy but that does seem like it would work, but the place where the barrel sits in the frame is one area of concern.
I don't think there is that much difference for the complete top end swap.  Maybe some others could chime in and add to the info you are seeking...

No reason you could not build one up.  I would definitely use a replica frame. Caspian sells a solid original 1911 frame in their classic line.

The ejector will likely need swapped with the slide.  Ejectors swap easily.

I've got an answer from another forum, that it's possible.
Thanks for answers!
