I finally registered there to relay the PBR data and just confirms why I never had a desire to go there. I actually finally registered on the XD board a couple weeks ago and know why there too. Seems things disappear and you get a sense of a crowd barely old enough (possibly not) owning guns or at least being registered members. No offense to those who are adult and make good contributions there. Maybe it is an advertiser-fest like some of the others which also is a factor.
That's why I will NEVER allow businesses to advertise here. They put it in the contracts that anything that might be harmful to their business must be deleted, such as bad customer experience or chrono data that goes against what their advertised specs are. I do this website for the love of firearms, not to make a profit. I won't ever have advertisements, nor will I accept donations. I pay for everything, and that gives me the freedom to run this website my way, and it gives you guys the freedom to post the truth.
I appreciate that. One guy there posted a bunch of Corbon stuff in the threads which tells me Corbon advertises there. It's expensive ammo and out of the stuff I tested here recently 1/2 of it didn't meet claims (2 for 4 I think). I have a box there now I returned because three of us tested it and it's off. No mention to fix it, just replace it with something else. I'm glad we can be open here about findings! Our "botique" suppliers as they are termed are the ones that will give you an ear and respond. That says something for them!
First of all, Grim Reaper thank you for your contribution of this website to the 10mm, and more importantly, the firearms community.
Intercooler, I don't see how anything disappeared over on Glocktalk. It looks like you must have inadvertently started two threads on the same subject. If you look there are two of your same threads on the Caliber Corner forum. I have been a member of glocktalk since 2006, and the only threads that ever disappeared were those that severely violated TOS.
Someone else started the second one.
How is that possible? They are both your screen name. Are you saying someone logged in under your screen name and started a thread?
I know I didn't!
Must have been the Glocktalk phantom. ;D

You know, I just assumed you were running advertisements but I use adblock so I rarely see any ads. I guess that makes my other thread about SEO and promotion much less relevant. AR15.com is funded by advertisement, paid membership, and schwag sales. Threads are not deleting for saying something negative about a site sponsor, as long as it's not a personal attack. No one is allowed to say anything personally negative about any other member. Site sponsors do have moderator privileges in their own forum in the Industry section so some will delete a thread if it's negative but most will just do their best to resolve the issue. I think that if you are careful in how you write (have written) the contracts and are discriminating in which businesses are allowed to advertise, you can foster a very open and honest forum.
The only places on Glocktalk that I go to are the 10 Ring (general 10mm discussion) and 10mm Reloading forums. Folks seem to be mostly very knowledgeable and mature. I've never had a thread or post deleted.
I'm on a few and recently have been spending a little time on Glock Talk. Doesn't seem too terribly bad there except some opinionated ones that believe in just one thing. Their was an episode one of the members posted there with a Underwood +P+ 115gr that he said the ammo was a fail which I think was an incorrect label for the thread. Somehow his G26 jammed up with a round but we never got to the bottom of what caused it. He posted a couple pictures and in one the primer had a huge crow's foot that looked like it was punctured. Another picture showed the firing pin out which the members say is normal for a Glock with the slide being back. I broke out my XD and their is no way for the firing pin to hang out so different firearms. Never heard back what he found the condition of the firing pin. I'm thinking when I see a "ammo" issue it is more the firearm with the issue. Not every firearm works with every ammo or the firearm isn't right in one way or the other. I just see ammo as something that unless it has an assembly issue or charged wrong it's just an object you feed into a gun.
I got myself banned this week from TheHighRoad. This was my choosing because after one of the Mod's closed down a post where I was looking for powder ID pictures I happily sent him a PM telling him stick it where the Sun don't shine because it was uncalled for. That's one place where if they don't agree with anything in the post they shut it down. Won't miss it one bit!
I will post it to see if I was really out of line with the question. I was just asking for info and instead someone determined it was out of line asking such things. I was being grilled over asking something simple ;D

Wow. Sad. Closed-Minded. Ignorant. Speaking with words and in a tone that proved a lack of education on the subject, and even worse, having no interest in gaining an understanding for why and what you asked. Nor were they interested in any explanation you had to offer.
I couldn't find an instance where you should have been considered out of line, not even within a single word you chose to use in any post of that thread.
I think you scared them. They had a chance to learn from you but felt more secure living in the dark. I guess, it's their right to choose to live in the dark or not. So be it.
I don't think I could last a full day over there. At least you tried. 8)
You didn't really explain *why* you wanted to identify the powders. It sounded like they were concerned that someone might attempt to duplicate a load just by thinking they knew what powder was used and then throw the same charges. Obviously we here know that you aren't even intending to load any ammo but just interested for academic reasons. If someone were to attempt to duplicate the loads, the obvious way to go about it would be to work up from established safe loads to the point that we *think* the manufacturer was at.
I've gotten warned on THR over bad language but I haven't been kicked or banned. I'm just not very interested in that forum any more because it's fairly static and nothing really interesting going on.
I was just looking for some pictures. I did tell them I wasn't reloading just seemed like I needed to break it down to a microscopic level of why I asked... but it was locked down before I could. 8)

Didn't seem like they cared either, but rather thought it intelligent to jump to conclusions. Just saying.
They don't take too kindly to anyone asking the "wrong" questions over there, and if you question their motives (or anything else) they slam the door on you. I've been a forum moderator for several years and have never found it necessary to be heavy-handed about it. When that forum got taken over (stolen?) amid some weird circumstances, I gave up on it, they seem like drama queens compared to most places.
The High Road? Methinks not so much. The Snooty Road, perhaps.
I think the difference is that this sight is dedicated to mature inquisitive individuals who know we dont have all the knowledge there is to have. No one here seems to have a ego in constant need of reinforcement. We are willing to play on the edge but know that there is a edge and respect it.
