This is my first 10mm. I usually top out at .357 Mag in my guns as I am not a recoil whore. I like shooting fast and accurately, the big boomers never did anything for me. I had a buddy trade me his stash of 1980's vintage factory 10mm ammo and a bunch of brass and that got me thinking about getting a 10mm finally. This Grand Power P40 10mm claiming to recoil mildly with full power ammo got me interested so I pursued it and finally got one.
I've only put a few Remington and Winchester Silvertips through it, but so far, so good. Recoil with the 10mm Silvertips seems in line with the 9mm +P type loads I shoot from various other guns.
The trigger in SA is very good with a short and distinctive reset and very positive feel breaking cleanly ~4lb. The DA trigger is on par with a current issue bone stock S&W revolver, which isn't bad, but could be improved.
The take down and reassembly is going to take some getting used to. Finally broke down and used a vise to hold the frame while I put the slide back on. That was a PITA.
The finish and machining throughout the gun is way above average. No burrs or sharp edges anyplace. Little to almost zero machine marks caould be found. Good attention to detail. The barrel, inside and out puts my last two US made guns to shame. Fine workmanship.
So if you are thinking about getting one of these Grand Power guns I would encourage it. Providing you have the patience to field strip and reassemble it. :-)
Now I'm torn.
I want one, but some people have reported issues. I might just grab one and see if I manage to get my hands on a problem free one. I definitely wont go through 3-4 like I did with the Witnesses. I'm not as patient as I was in my 20's.
What issues? The only thing I saw the people hitting the mag release by accident. I of course would never do that as I am a person who has shot guns his whole life and consider myself a good shooter.

Over in the other thread people are saying they are having the mag drop and they're not touching the mag release. One guy had to send his in to be checked and repaired.

I shoot a bit and have seen many people over the years complain about magazines falling out. Usually a new shooter or people with a new gun. Experienced shooters tend to blame themselves first, have someone else try it, then look for malfunctioning equipment. Inexperienced shooters tend to blame the gun right away. My mag fell out once and the second it did I knew I did it. I adjusted my grip and it's all good now. I also examined the mag release mechanism pretty close and it's a solid design. Very close to a Springfield XD in appearance. If that mag comes out, you pushed the button. Adjust your grip or have the button shaved down a millimeter or so, it is sort of a big button. Should solve the problem.
Nice to have another member of this semi elite club. Hopefully they will become more common over time. I think they are a great 10mm. Without a doubt the lowest recoiling one I have ever fired. I did drop the mag once or twice. It was the way I was gripping the gun. Doesn't happen any more. Enjoy the fun! And the gun.

I just might grab one come tax return time. I was watching some videos on youtube and really like the way it cycles and recoils. This could be what the Witness should have been all these years. A

It will become my cool weather EDC as soon as the front night sight is here. Should be soon. I like my Glocks, RIA, DE and Sig but this has been a great weapon.
That was my first reaction when I opened up my K100 about the quality of the machining. Probably the only thing that makes the pistol seem a little cheap is being a polymer (like all plastic guns). The metal parts down to the barrel are pretty amazing in comparison to other pistols I have ran across. The take-down can be a little challenging the first couple of times until you figure out to hang some of the barrel out and align the barrel groove properly. It gets much easier the more you do it like any other pistol.
You can do a polishing and remove one part in the pistol which helps the trigger a good bit. With Henning involved in the platform I can see more parts being made by him to fit it. If the safety keeps coming up, maybe he would entertain making something more user friendly.

That would be great if he started making some parts.
I think he makes base plates and possibly a couple other items already. It seems this pistol might call for some safety options as the #1 part.
Yes, and night sights seeing as they so far have been unable to import the front sight.
I never have been into night sights. With that rail the laser option has always been more appealing.

The local departments (Orlando, Orange Co., Polk Co.) don't use lasers, I don't know if they have night sights or not. I prefer night sights because that is one less thing that can fail.

You can order some from Eagle Imports. You can also order them from Craftholsters.com. I am currently using one from TheHolsterStore.com which was originally for an EAA Witness Polymer Carry(not the Compact Carry). It was also stated in a review of the P40 10mm found in Recoil magazine that any Sig P320 holster should work, but I have no personal experience there.
