I own a beautiful S&W 1006 built in 1991. It has been shot very little. I have just replaced the Recoil spring with a Wolf 20lb ( I also have a Wolf factory 18lb and a 22lb). My problem is that I do not own safe queens. Even my Marlin SBL 1895 .45-70 gets shot at least once a month, so here's my dilemma. As the spare parts for the 1006 no longer exist I'm not shooting it much. In fact my Glock 20 with KKM barrel is the only 10mm I'm shooting anymore. I have wanted a Delta Elite since the 80's. The new one comes with the better grip safety, sights, ejection port, trigger, ect. So I guess I'm going to sell the 1006 and it's four mags to pay for the Delta. I don't think I'm going to regret the sale of the 1006 as I'm not shooting it, well maybe in 10 years when they're worth 3 times as much. So tell me your thoughts on the new Delta Elite and keep and eye out on GB and GA for my 1006, it's a beautiful pistol!
Simple. Break your own rule....save for the DE and buy it, keep the 1006. I think shooting it a few times a year is not going to kill it. That's what I do.
Selling guns cause deep regrets. Save and buy. Let your kids sell them when you die.
No way I would sell the S&W.

I sold two a couple years ago and a plethora of magazines. Got excellent money in return and bought a few guns to replace them. And put about 1K in my pocket. I don't regret it at all. Its a gun, it served its purpose and doubled it money.
Sell it! I sold mine and it had been fired only a couple of times before I bought it NIB basically. I found myself in the same situation as you did not firing it much. Part of that was I didn't like the trigger and grip as much as my other 10's. Keep the ones you fire often and really like!
I already listed it on GB and Armslist, no safe queens for me. I too hate a DA/SA trigger. I can't shoot those triggers at all. I like either a smooth double action like on my Redhawk or a single action like on my 1911's. I don't do bad with the Glock or M&P Shield triggers, they just have to be consistent. The only two pistols I ever regretted selling; a one off Les Baer built on my P-13 frame back when he was a one man show; a 1952 Hi-Standard Field King with target sights and a 6.5" ported bull barrel. I found my old HS two months ago and bought it back for $50 less than I sold it for. I shoot the crap out of the HS, it's a complete tack driver. I am looking forward to my new DE! I'll shoot my G20 with KKM Barrel in the mean time.
The new Sig 220 is much like the 1006. If you ever get the hankering that model is current and parts will be around for a LONG time.
I like the Sig my wife has. It's the P238 and in my opinion, the finest .380acp out there. That being said. I shot a SS P220 Elite in 10mm (like the one Hickok45 did a video on). It's a beautiful gun however, I did not like the grip angle, just not for me. I also found the slide release control was too close to the thumb safety for my hand. This was the SA only Sig of course.
I have been shooting 1911's since I was 8yrs old and to me they are a natural extension of my hand. I currently own a Ed Brown Alpha Carry (my EDC), a SA R.O. Compact, a Kimber TLE II which I converted back to the GI recoil system, dumped the Shwartz safety, and loaded it with Ed Brown "hardcore" fire control parts. I have owned, shot, traded, and sold, over 25 1911's in the past 30 plus year. So the DE is a much more familiar firearm to me. Jeff Quinn just did a great video of the newest Delta and he shoots and explains how it now handles even the hottest rounds. I have a Gen 3 Glock 20SF with KKm barrel and it shoots great, but it never feels as good in my hand as a 1911. Forget about the Glock being as accurate as the EB!
Anyway, looks like the S&W 1006 is going to fetch a nice sum and more than pay for the Delta, so no regrets!

Excellent. I did purchase a DA/SA Sig 10mm last year and I love it.
I hope that works out for you.
I have sold many guns over my life. There is only one of them I don't regret letting go today.
I loved my Delta Elite. At least the way it looked. I ended up selling it because I'd rather tbrow rocks at a target than deal with the obsolete design of a 1911. It's 2017. Pulling the hammer back to fire the first shot is so last century and carrying cocked and locked never felt safe to me. The 1006 is a far superior firearm over a Delta, in my opinion.

Listen to this man. I had four Ruger M77 MKII All Weathers with boat paddle stocks in 264 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag, 338 Win Mag. A Remington SENDERO in 300 RUM wearing a Zeiss target scope, and of course more. Prior to and during the divorce they all left including my Liberty Franklin safe. I regret it all every day.
You sell guns like Hi-Points that come in a bulk trade deal, you keep that 1006. Just my point of view.
