Title: Vortex venom or viper
Post by: Dave84 on January 06 2017 04:08:44 PM MST
Actually have some spare money laying around for once. I'm considering the vortex products. Anyone have experience with these? Which product do you feel is superior?

I have a shooting buddy that has a Vortex 1X6.  It is a fine scope, and certainly a current darling on all the forums.

For my money, it is hard to beat the SWFA house brand Super Sniper scopes.

Here is their catalog listing for scopes in the under $600 price range:

This post was helpful in seeing the difference between the two.

Well, understanding that we are talking about RMR's now, and not the riflescope line, I feel like an idiot.

I have no feedback.

I apologise. I totally thought I mentioned them both by name while I typed. Looking back I did not. My bad. The vortex viper and venom.

The lock screw location on the viper sucks. Other than that it is nice. I ordered a delta point pro from optics planet for under $300 with 10% off coupon.......

I've seen several Vortex Venom this past season at the USPSA matches.  All mounted on Glock MOS's or S&W M&P CORE's for the new Carry Optic division.  I even shot a few of them.  I would say it was a good as my Burris FF3.  Slightly bigger sight window, and nice clear glass.  Now, these were all mounted on 9mm's, shooting light minor power factor loads but I haven't heard any reports of failures.

Hope this helps.

Jeff

Nope.  On me.  Venom is in the title.  Viper is the line I am familiar with and it includes a bunch of different optics, from RMR to 6X20 variable scopes.  I just jumped to the conclusion you were asking about their scopes.
