We have a few running around here now. Excellent shooter and a tank! What kind of things would you like to know?

Trying to decide if it is worthy of space in the safe next to these  :)

I had the chance to get one for $450 from a local vendor brand new many years ago and didn't because I read of issues with magazines. What a lost on my part I do not think they knew what they had. Also back then I could not tell the difference in the slides and if they were part of the slide cracking issue. I know this has all been corrected and I am much more educated on the topic now. Though the magazine issue is still up in the air on myth or legend.

Absolutely!  The Hunter never had any frame issues and the magazines are excellent these days. I love mine!

Love mine... hands down my favorite 10mm to shoot
The only thing I have done to it is replace the recoil spring with a heavier Wolf spring
Has been totally reliable with any load.

Thanks for the feedback. In doing my research it seems the rear sight can come loose. Is this still a problem?

You mean break? I would say yes, but then again they changed to a new MFG. I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor. I have a Henning fixed on mine now and it will never break.

I was playing around with my 45 ACP Witness Hunter today and dropped in a 10mm barrel and extractor.  It runs fine on the 45 ACP slide.  Extraction and ejection were flawless.

Leaving the 10mm extractor in place, I switched the barrel back to 45 ACP and found that it runs 45 just fine with the 10mm extractor.  So now, I can simply change the barrel to go between 45 ACP, 40 Super, and 10mm.

I would normally just buy the correct caliber slide, but EAA doesn't sell the Hunter slides by themselves.

Wil the slide/barrel arrangement fit on my "Wonderfinished" Standard Witness frame?

The Hunter slide won't, but the barrel will.

Actually, the slide will fit your frame, but the recoil spring will be exposed.  The Hunter slide can even be run on a Compact frame.  However, the tolerances for all the frames and slides isn't really good enough to say they will interchange 100%, because they won't.  Some will need some fitting, but that is regardless of the type or length of the slide and/or frame.

Here's the Hunter slide on a compact frame.

Here's a 4.75" slide on the Hunter frame.

Did you try firing both compact versions?
