Just some random video I stumbled upon. Was interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPAuMwZ_gMU

A comparison between 10mm and .41 magnum would have been more even in results because the ballistics are closer between these rounds.

I wanted to compare my Glock 20 10mm with a 2" barreled 41 magnum revolver. I took some chornograph readings with my friend's S&W Night Guard 6 shot revolver, and a 6" S&W Model 57.

Winchester 175 grain SilverTip (.41 Mag)
2" barrel = 1045 fps. This is weak ammo. I think the 10mm 175gr SilverTip has the same velocity.
6" barrel = 1225 fps.

Remington Factory 210 grain Jacketed Soft Point
2" barrel = 1176 fps
6" barrel = 1335 fps

The Remington 210 grain load was brutal in the 2" Night Guard. I could not see anyone shooting all six rounds at a charging bear. My opinion is that these Remington loads are useless in a short barreled light weight .41 magnum revolver. The steel Model 57 was better.

The Glock 20 can hold 10 rounds (in California), and up to 17 rounds with a +2 extension if you live in a free State.
Both the 2" S&W Night Guard and the Glock 20 are very close in size, with the Revolver being wider.
I think the G20 10mm is a better option over the 41 magnum for large animal defense.

2" barrel in .41 magnum is still not a fair comparison. I use Underwood 10mm ammo exclusively out of either my 5" 1911 or my 4 1/4"  1911 pistols. The recoil is about the same as the recoil from my 4" S&W model 657 .41 magnum with Remington 210 gr JHP ammo. I've been using Underwood 10mm 155 gr JHP XTP at 1500 fps as well as their 140 gr Extreme Penetrator at 1500 fps. Both rounds compare with .41 magnum performance out of a reasonable length 4" or longer .41 magnum barrel. I don't like barrels under 4" and the shortest barrel pistol that I have is a S&W 386 PD with 2 1/2" barrel because it is made of Scandium/Titanium. I would have preferred a 4" barrel Scandium revolver, but, they didn't make them.

I compared the snubby 41Mag because the overall size of the gun is very close to a Glock 20. A 4" barreled revolver is longer. I had a Taurus 2" 5-shot 415 Titanium in 41 Mag, and sold it when I got my G20. The 415 was my backpacking/woods gun. Now the G20 is my woods gun. I felt 15 rounds of 10mm was better than 5 rounds of 41 magnum. Unfortunately California has made my 10+ magazines illegal, but 10 and a quick mag change is better than 5 and a slow reload.
