Has anyone got velocities for this in a Glock 29? The video that was made by someone here has sold me on it, but that's a G20 size barrel. I'm curious what the MV will be, as well as penetration and expansion. If the 10mm version in the 3.78" barrel is not much faster than the .40,then we can rule it out, as we know they don't open up.
Nevermind, found some chrono #'s at the defensive carry forums.

It was immediately obvious that the 175 gr. Critical Duty produced less recoil than the Hornady 155 gr. XTP.
Same Glock 29 previously got a 1,278 fps average (562# KE) with 155 XTP.
The 175 gr. Critical Duty produced a 1,077 fps average (451# KE)
1077?! Isn't that just a .40 S&W? I guess I will be ordering Underwood 180gr Gold Dot. I have verified numbers with them of 1231 from a stock G29. Now that's definitely not a 40!
While not full bore 10mm, 1077 fps for a 175 grain from a Glock 29 is well outside 40 S&W range. The 40 won't make that in a 5" barrel with factory ammo in 175-180 grain.
Which goes back to what I have always loved about a Glock 29...better than 40 S&W ballistics from a very tidy package.
I have it loaded in my Glock 29.
When fired side by side with Hornady Critical Defense, this load seemed the more powerful of the two.
Not a bad round really, for a less than full power 10mm load.
Thanks for the replies fellas. I think I'm going to go with Underwood's 200gr XTP or Double Tap's 200gr Nosler.
I found the 50 Round boxes of Critical Duty for $35. Item#91255

50 round boxes for $35? I need some of those. Google power activated!
10mm have several power levels from FBI lite to nuclear. The Hornady 10mm 175 XTP are considered medium load and still does better than 40sw.

Added it to my Amazon Wishlist. :) Thank you.
You're welcome, I'm just trying to be a helpful new member. I'm new to 10mm,so I help where I can.
I'm new to 10mm too though I had it a few months. Never gonna look back either.
Glad we have this sweet forum to keep the love. 8)
Well, I'm new to this site, but this is my first time dealing with a 10mm Auto pistol.
Same here. :D
For what it's worth, I keep the Hornady 175gr JHP Critical Duty loaded in my Glock20SF for home defense, along with spare mag.
Sure, I've got Underwood 165gr JHP Gold Dot and DT 200gr Hard Cast for traveling and backcountry combo.
The Critical Duty feeds very reliably, is easy to handle, round expands very well and packs good punch... which is especially what I want from a home defense pistol. Frankly, I don't want to go nuclear in my home. YMMV.
I have two boxes of the CD 170 in my stash but I have Uw 200 XTP for both indoors and outdoors.
