I have Glock 40 MOS that I have put Dawson MOS sights on. The pistol shoots to point of aim with the loads I currently have(HPR180 XTP) good enough that I killed my first deer with a handgun yesterday at 40 yards. I am wanting to try some of the Underwood 200 WFN hardcast for hunting and was wondering if they will shoot close to the point of aim as other rounds?
I hope to add a red dot later to this pistol but Im stuck with irons for now.
I have an awesome ground blind set up exactly 30yards from my feeder so I know the yardage there.
Anybody tried these loads and did they shoot close to others or way different.
I have not tried this specific combo.
In general, at 30 yards every load I have tried is on a pie plate, which is definitely "minute of venison".
I would suggest you try it in your gun. Let us know what you find.
The cast bullets, as shot through the Glock factory barrels, can be unstable with improperly sized bullets.
The ones I have measured from Underwood 200 and 220 were 0.4010". Personally mine are sized to 0.4015" while some size to 0.4020".
Testing from your pistol is the only way to be sure how it shoots, shooting at paper will show if the are flying straight and true or keyholing. Glock Factory barrels have been measured at 0.4020" bore and if the smaller bullet diameter doesn't get bumped up (obdurate) (obturation) by the pressure it can slide through the polygonal rifling without much stabilization!

BKS did you recover the XTP round. Was it a nasty wound track and did the deer drop immediately or ran for a few yards.
I did recover the bullet from the first shot, it hit right at the rear of the rib cage on the right side and stopped under the front shoulder of the left side. She mule kicked when I shot her and when she came down and started acrioss the road/lane I shot again and hit her in the spine about 2/3of the way back.
She went about 30 feet total. That bullet exited taking about a 2" section of spine with it.
I almost messed up. I feel that I misjudged the angle she was standing at because I was nervous. I had just shot over the back of a larger doe, after not seeing any deer in 2.5 days.
I hope to try this load again this weekend and will be more careful of the angle.
