Title: 1911 bushing compensator
Post by: ram1000 on October 31 2016 10:05:12 PM MDT
Will a bushing type compensator for a 45 ACP work on my Kimber 10mm, or does the inside diameter need to be closer to 10mm?

In general a bushing comp really is just a weight out there on the end of the barrel.  Tests don't really show that you get a lot of "compensation" from the ports.  It will probably work just fine as a result.

SO it won't negatively effect the process of expulsion, but also won't slow the slide or the lift/kick after firing.  Not being very advanced in these things I would ask if I can just slide a bushing compensator in place of the existing bushing, or is this part fitted???

You can try.

Bushings are fitted to a 1911.  In general even "Drop In" parts require some TLC to get them to work.  But that doesn't mean yours won't work.  I would give it a try.

However, if it is loose, it will negatively effect accuracy.  And if it is super tight it might "wear in" in such a way to make the stock one fit more loosely.
