I am getting ready to do a 4013 10mm conversion. I started looking for buffers and found that Buffer Technologies has gone out of business and I can't find any of their 4013 buffers anywhere. Does anyone else make one for the 4013? Maybe someone else (Strike Industries?) makes one that is similar and could be easily modified? Are there any other alternatives? Is a buffer really needed? All help is appreciated! Thank you!
I've got a 4053 conversion in process,still have yet to 'attack' the buffer area.
The thing about using a buffer, the recoil rod and spring area are shorter, this hamper things trying to tweak the recoil spring.
The springs can bunch up if too long, adding excess drag as they compress. Adding a buffer can also take up that space to complicate things as well...

Then they was BMCM on the S&W forum that did some tricks with a flat wire ISMI spring.

I have read both of those threads. BMCM used a custom made guide rod to be able to use the ISMI springs. On Bad Man One's setup, mine is an older gun that just uses a single recoil spring. I am going to try a 23lb. spring and see what happens. Also, as you probably know, some people who use buffers have a relief cut in the frame to make up for the reduced slide travel. I guess I will just have to experiment.
