Title: Threaded Bull Barrels
Post by: gehlsurf on October 25 2016 05:52:47 PM MDT
Hi,

I was wondering if there was a good source for some threaded bull barrels for my Rock Island 1911 10mm, it is the 4.25" (commander).

Thank you,

I'd start by calling Armscor in Nevada.  IMO, in bull barrel 1911s, fitment to your slide is an operation best left to a professional.  In the case of RIA, the only way to finish your job with warranty in-tact is to have them fit it for you.

They didn't have any advice per say, or anything they could do, haha. But good advice Dred, I pressed them on the issue, and they did tell me that they've heard of people buying the 5 inch Bull Barrels and having a gunsmith cut and thread those.... very interesting to say the least...  One time it might've paid off to buy the Commander series, LOL   8)

$315 for a semi-fit from Bar-Sto barrels.  They have the option for a commander length/4.25" in bull with a Clark/Nowlin ramp.  About as close to drop in as you will get.  You will have to file the hood a bit, and cut the bottom lug.
