Title: OWB holster for RIA double stack10mm
Post by: Chris111146 on August 02 2016 11:50:14 AM MDT
Hey guys,

Do any of you have experience with holsters for the RIA doublestack or at least double stacks in general? I really want a plastic waist holster. I contacted blade tech and they are not sure if a RIA doublestack will fit their 45 doubke stack, though I'm guessing it will.

I just use standard 1911 hosters for my Para P16.  Same frame casting as the RIA wide body.  The grip is the only part that is non-1911 spec, and it doesn't go in the holster.

Mag pouches, standard 45 ACP wide body 1911/2011 pouches should work fine.

I was told the trigger guard was wider than usual, which is usually inserted into the holsters I have been looking at. I might have to try it out if academy has a return policy.

I have not had that issue on wide body 1911 frames.  That may be true of the 2011 STI/SVI frames.  Para, RIA, Caspian cast hi-cap frames have the same trigger guard dimensions as a standard 1911.

I bought a blackhawk serpa and it did not fit, however I managed to get it to work with a Dremel  tool.

This is not a double stack 1911, but the holster is what I use to carry my Commander size RIA 1911 10mm.

The RIA 1911A2's fit into every 1911 holster I have.  So, I bought a Serpa for my GFs son who is fixated on retention since I couldn't offer him anything with a button, lever, switch or strap.  It didn't work and he declined my offer to make it fit.  Looks to me like the surgery can be completed in about 45 seconds if I take my time and keep it factory looking.

The interference is in the mag release section of the frame.  Them button/switch providers love shoving holster where it isn't needed.
