The NRA sent out an email, and posted on Facebook concerning some executive action by obama last week. Apparently, he updated some guidelines on the interpretation of a law that changes the meaning of gun manufacturers to include gunsmithing.
So if a gunsmith does any kind of barrel threading, receiver work, using a lathe on a barrel to change caliber, they'll be considered a firearm manufacturer, and have to pay the $2,250 license fee or go out of business. Essentially, the experts are saying this puts most gunsmiths out of business.

How can this clown change the rules of the BATFE?
If he can, then Trump can do the same by making gun laws more lax.

Puts most gunsmiths out of business
Really?.
Seems like a better idea to pass the 2500 on to customers. If the smith threads or rechambering one barrel a week each customer pays $50
Not good news but the sky is not falling
That clown should never have been elected
I read it.it is an attack on small gunsmiths. kinda like Commrade Klinton's decimation of 03 FFL dealers in the early '90s. tax them out of business. some people say tis only affects businesses that do Gov't contracts. but the simple treading of a barrel changes you to a Manufacturer! :o :o this is also a way to get at the 80% lower recover finishers too. the BATF is so vauge with their interpretations of their own regulations. ask 2 agents, get 2 different answers! who knows how they will crack down on this. :(

Any machine shop or machinist that threads a barrel is then committing a crime.
.
yep!

That's not what I read. According to the article, 'any machining, altering of parts, or anything that may result in better performance or accuracy, could be considered 'manufacturing', even if only done one time.'
By their definition, any one of us could violate the law with the simple installation of an aftermarket FPS that required
'altering' in order to fit.
Nothing good can come of this.

When I read the memo, it stated something to the extent of commercial. Its not commercial if you are doing this for yourself to your own firearm.

I stand corrected. My apologies.
It's still a terrible law that will have ZERO effect on crime/criminals. It's a solution looking for a problem.

It is horrible.
But, it is in the context of commerce. If you are doing work on your own guns only, this does not apply to you. Even today you can "manufacture" your own gun, starting with an 80% lower without an FFL, as long as your intent is not commerce. Whether such guns can later be sold is a topic of some debate, but in general it is considered "ok" as long as you didn't make the gun so you could sell it. And if it crosses a state line, make sure it transfers through an FFL.
I wish someone would provide a "collection" of all of this ass-clowns Executive Orders during his tenure. I bet 99% of most people have NO IDEA all this happened.
Expect more of this before he leaves office. I am still allowing (loosely) that he may create marshall law, suspend the election and remain as DIC - Dictator in Charge. :o

Anyone who still believes this is a constitutional republic is a fool, to be kind. Civil disobedience will increase exponentially and then . . . . Well, the ship is going down. It might as well go down in flames.
Big, Obsessive, Overbearing, Greedy Government Gone Wild for Power and Control over the people! That is not how it is suppose to work! The corruption is spread across all branches of this system and needs to be purged out!
But step by step and bit by bit they are allowing the various parts of Islam into the system and the culture as a pivotal stone to enact Sharia Law. Sharia Law violates many of our current laws and takes freedom from christians and to the point of legal killings. Therefore Sharia Law has no place inside the United States Of America! Wake Up People! >:D
