Well with the crap news of our plant being sold and us employees being out of a job come November, I figured a great stress reliever would be to go do some ballistic testing.
Today's test was with the always loving 10mm, specifically the Glock 20. I did two tests, one with BE-86 using the stock barrel, and one with 800x in my 6 inch kkm precision barrel.
On to the goods!
Using 8.8gr BE-86 New A-usa brass CCI #300 primers and a COL of 1.250"
Impact velocity was 1324fps
Using the 6" kkm precision barrel
9.6gr IMR 800x A-USA brass CCI #300 primers and a COL of 1.250"
Impact velocity was 1472fps
The BE-86 load wasn't to bad, it performed well. Lost about 55 gr of weight. The 800x load hit like a ton of bricks and I got soaked from 20' away. It however shed 61gr. They held together, no jacket/core separation. Just high weight loss.
As a quick side note: My glock 20 has a SF frame, however the slide and barrel are earlier 2nd gens. Case support is horrendous, and I tend to smile brass easily in the factory barrel.

Unfired on the left, 800x screamer in the middle, and BE-86 on the right.

high weight loss.
Man, I wish I could shed 55 lbs as fast as those shed 55 grains.

Tell me about it! I'd be doing good with that!

Even with the weight lost they still did well in that medium, water is hard on them. Those big Hollow Cavities are probably set up for 40 S&W velocity. But when used at a distance where velocity drops lower they will still perform quite well at long range.
Thanks! 8)
Welcome! That's exactly what I was thinking on the water. I may make up a batch of ballistic gel and retest these soon, since I'll have some free time on my hands lol
