Title: Went with the EAA Elite Match 10mm
Post by: raven28690 on October 31 2012 09:37:08 PM MDT
AS mentioned in my introductory post I was bound and determined to pick up a Glock 20 or EAA. Figure why choose between the two so told my wife a Glock 20 is what I want for xmas and an early xmas present to myself from myself in the form of a Match 10mm.
I really like the heft that the gun has. Its a little more wider than a Delta Elite and in my case, it fits my hand like a glove. The fit and finish of the gun is gorgeous and I love the trigger pull on it.
If I had to pick a con about the Match, it would be the all black sights. Its hard for me to focus on all black sights especially on top of a black slide.
Other con is I would have liked for them to continued with the rubber grips as was on the earlier ones however some hogues will rememdy this.

Only problem Im having is im loving the 10mm so much I want more of them  ;D Would love to have a Delta Elite and a Bren ten in the family.
Im completely sold on the 10mm now and have been trying to spread the word around to help preserve and promote this great cartridge.

Congrats on picking on of the best values in a 10mm you can buy!

I have two Witness guns a Match and a Hunter. I put the Henning fiber on my Hunter and left the Match as-is. Shoot both just great! Target shooters prefer black but you have options out there. I have the Hogue on my Match and it makes it like a glove giving it the best feel of any gun I own.

Best mods other than the grip you can do is some Henning parts. Cone guide rod, 20-22lb recoil spring, flat bottom firing pin block and sights if you want.

I guess they grow on you. I never thought I would have four but I do. My latest was the 1006 which for sure needs sights and I'm working on that. It eats everything though and tames recoil to almost a boring level.

Henning released a fixed rear sight not too long ago. Pretty nice fixed piece!

Congrats on your Match.I know the feeling in regards to the front sight. What i have done was put some white nail polish on front sight and it worked.Tryed fiber, not for me.The trigger is sweet but im planning to go with DA/SA switch over. Not cocked and lock carrier.Like first shot D/A,esp in a shoulder rig.

We have a winner.  This is what I do as well.  Heck, even my "white dot" sights get this treatment every 5 years or so when they start to get cruded up.  Or if the paint gets removed during a bead blast (stainless) or sand-blast (carbon steel prior to parkerizing/cerakote).

Congrats on the Elite Match.  I think my match has dots, but I haven't shot it in some time, so I could be wrong.

What grips came on the gun.  I have the rubber ones on both my Witnesses and would like to have a set of the walnut grips.

Oh, and I read somewhere your came with a plastic case instead of metal...Just be glad the case opened.  Mine came with the "nice" case, but one of the latches wouldn't work.  I ended up cutting it open and tossing the case.  Didn't bother me, I don't keep guns in their cases anyway.

Plastic grips is whats coming on the new Match's.
Wow, guess I should appreciate the plastic case then.

I absolutely love the Match though and thank Intercooler for talking me into one thru pms from another board.

As far as sights go, I know EAA offers a fiber optic aswell as Hennings and Dawson precision but has anyone tried these?

Was looking into their daysiters (I should be able to see a Florescent dot) and the price is very attractive however the white nail polish is an option.

I have the Henning fiber on my Hunter and pacapcop has the Dawson fiber on his. You can find pictures of both on EAA Firearms FB page as well as the Henning parts. This thread cost me $30  ;D I went to Hennings sight and ordered the light weight extended firing pin for my Match.

Someone on another board steered me to an even better option - Glow On sight paint. They offer several colors, but the original is white in the daylight, and glows very bright green in the dark (not like tritium sights, shine a flashlight at it first).

I like to drill a small indentation in the sight to put sight paint in; works better than just a flat surface for making a dot. I do this with my stock Glock sights too, drill into the white dot and add glow paint; it's not visible in daylight but works well for cheap night sights.

Good to hear.  Tossing out give-and-take altogether and getting both.  Awesome.  Enjoy.

I will have to try some of that paint.  Does it adhere well?  That has been my issue in the past with glow-paints.  Fingernail polish has been one of the few paints I could get to stick.

+1 on the drill idea though.  Depending on your sights you might need to borrow a drill press to set it up, but it works great.

I was a little disappointed in the case aswell since unless carrying it, I store my guns in their case.
Although im not 100% positive, this case looks like the ones the standards came in.

What does a Match go for these days? Mine was $539 shipped and I know EAA upped the price... why cheaping on the cases to a degree.

What mag comes standard now? Is it the red follower or black K10? I haven't had issues with either but just curious.
