Looking at buying a 10mm within next few weeks.
Comparing the following:
DW Razorback
Kimber Eclipse II
Colt Delta Elite
Glock 20 and / or 40
Main uses will be for target practice and backup side arm for hunting. May consider handgun hunting later.
I am aware there is a big price difference between the DW to Glock 20. But I would like to know if it's worth the upgrade. Plus I am not a Glock fan in general. Prefer hammer guns over striker, and also don't care for the Polymer models. But the fact it would be out in bad weather conditions isn't lost either.
So from folks who have shot some or all, I would love their opinion....
Its easy to like ALL of your picks but if you only get one for me its the Glock 20. If like new used does not bother you they can be had with a little patience for around $425. I scored two for even less in the last year. I also like it for my purpose of hunting/outdoor carry where there are no controls to mess with, just pull the trigger. Might be harder to learn to shoot perfect targets than the others but I have other options for that duty that do not excel as a woods carry pistol.
I would pick the one that fits your hand and has a manual of arms you like. I went the Glock route but hope to add a Glock 40 and a 10 inch 10mm to my TC contender.

I agree with holding them. Never been able to find one locally yet. Going to big show near me on Saturday so looking for input of folks who have had them ahead of time.
I have a G20 and a G29, Colt DE, RIA 1911 and a SIG 220 all in 10mm. Whew, tough choice. The Glocks are extremely weatherproof and great shooters. The Colt and the RIA are a 1911 mode of operation and are both extremely rugged. And the Sig is awesome :)
Start with the Colt or the RIA, you'll end up with more than one anyway :)
I forgot to mention I am a huge CZ fan also...
Hence the reason the DW was at top of my list. ;D
I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. If a Glock fits you hand well then that would be a good 1st 10mm. I like the 1911s since I have shot them for many years and can hit with them. My 2 10mm are a Colt Delta and a Kimber and am kind of looking @ a Sig 220.
So you Colt / Kimber owners. Which do you prefer? Why?

Not interested in a BB gun. Thanks though as it does look cool...
Glock 40 a fantastic gun !
Well the funny thing is I like the Colt for it's reliability and I like the Kimber because it has more features on the gun then my Delta has. But now that has change with the new Delta Elite having some of them features on them like sights, bevertail ,trigger, hammer. I like my Kimber alot but if I could only have 1 of them 2 it would be the New Colt Delta Elite.
And on another note just yesterday I shot 75 rds with 180gr hard cast bullet over 11.4 grs of Blue Dot that put me into upper 1200 fps with no problems with the gun or the brass!!

BB gun? I have no clue what you mean by that.
A witness is much more like a CZ than a Dan Wesson will ever be.
I own 4 10mm's
Sig P220
Witness Stock III
Colt Delta elite
S&W 1066
The witness is the most accurate.
I almost bought a razorback and I have no doubt they are extremely high quality, but Im glad I bought the Colt instead
The witness is a fantastic gun. I have not had the Sig very long, but I am very pleased so far. The 1066 is going back to S&W for some issues I'm having.
A witness Stock 2 or limited would most likely be next if I bought another 10mm.
Just my experience with 10mm's and my opinion
If you are a huge CZ fan, I would definitely put the Tanfoglio's on your list. An Elite Stock is a fine firearm, and will likely be more reliable than a 1911 style 10mm across the ammunition spectrum. I love 1911's, but my Witness guns and Glocks run circles around my 1911's.

Sorry, I did google search on it, and first hit was a BB gun.
My thinking behind buying the DW Razorback, was that it's a CZ USA product. Financially supporting the company, that I like.
I hope to be able to get my hands on a Colt before making a decision. So here's hoping I see one this weekend at the local gun show.
When you are looking remember that colt just changed the Delta elite. There are many of the old style still out there for sale as well as the new style.

What are the differences, and how can I tell specifically by looking at one?

The pictures tell the story: Beavertail grip safety with memory bump, extended thumb safety, new grip panels, skeletonized trigger and hammer and novak style sights.
I have a Kimber stainless target and it is the most accurate 1911 I own. Everyone that shoots it tries to buy it from me.
I went with the DW Razorback. Picked it up today from FFL. Will take it to the range this weekend...
I think you will be happy with it. Lots of lube on the frame rails during break in. I have a Razorback and just purchased a Silverback. The Razorback is one of my favorites. Only have 400 rounds through the Silverback so far but really like it too. The mods I do to all my 1911 10mm's and very much recommend are a flat firing pin stop and a 25lb hammer spring. Those two mods will help your gun to not beat itself up. Also helps with recoil some. Enjoy that gun.
Keep a eye on the slides slide stop notch. On mine on the bottom rear where is locks up I have peening that is bringing the metal up.
After breaking it down and oiling it. Think I want to sell it...
Most frustrating hour of my life. Nothing is easy with this thing. Think I just want a Glock.
Probably gonna drive to major gun shop near me and see if I can get major trade in value on un-fired weapon.
Actually scratched the side of the gun trying to get magazine release re-inserted. So now the gun is scratched and still never fired... >:D
...do include the witness Polymer Full Size; here's mine. That it's DA/SA ought to warm your 1911 heart. :)

I love this piece; it's MUCH more comfortable and fits my mediumish hands much better than a Block. I had a 20.4 when I bought the Witness, and then sold the 20.4. It's also the most-accurate pistol I've ever shot, of dozens.

And only $434.

Mag release or slide release ?
Slide release. Just watched a video and he referred to it as the idiots scratch on 1911. >:D
1911's have some quirks. More than likely can polish out your idiot scratch. After you cycle it several times look at your slide stop to see the pattern left. Many aren't cut perfect and contribute to peening. All you need for that is a half bastard file. I suggest you hand cycle it 500 times by hand with lube before the first range trip.
Welcome to the world of 1911's. Since the cats out of the bag and you now know about what a idiot scratch is. If the DW is anything like the Delta then it is tighter than a normal 45 1911 as far as the slide stop ( mine is ). A DW in general is a extremely tight fitted 1911.
Take a old credit card and cut it as a shield against idiot scratches during re-assembly. They actually sell pre cut shields for that, but just make your own.
And as already stated since its stainless and I assume not bead blasted where it's scratched, then you should be able to fix it yourself.

Thanks for the tip Deuce.
Shot about 75 rounds today thru this. Need to find cheaper ammo. This a fun gun to shoot, and not much worse than the 9mm.
Definitely was a step down after shooting my .44 magnum! LOL
Not sure I have the energy to break it down again and try cleaning it yet again...
Redwing, before you sell it, remember there aren't that many frequently fired 1911s that don't have a scratch somewhere!
I bought a used Kimber and was amazed it didn't have that scratch. It does now, of course.
Also treat yourself to a bushing compensator. The hotter your ammo, the smoother it will shoot.
For me, that was the best mod I've done to any gun so far, and it only costs about as much as 1-2 boxes of ammo.
http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Multi-Comp-Bushing-Compensator-Full-Size-Stainless-Steel/productinfo/397S/ can be found at online retailers and ebay for $60 on sale, $80

I've owned the Glock 20, Colt Delta Elite, and now have a Custom TLE/RL II in 10mm which is one of my main EDC guns. I also don't like Glocks and sold my model 20 10mm because it was one of the first ones to be released back in the 1990's and wouldn't reliably chamber hollow points and I didn't like the heavier recoil of the Glock. The Delta Elite was OK, but, I use Underwood ammo almost exclusively and they don't recommend their ammo in the Colt Delta Elite because it does not have a ramped barrel for support with their full power 10mm rounds. If you're going to be hunting with your 10mm, I would imagine you will be using full power rounds and not the underpowered rounds you'll find on the gun store's shelves.
If you are going to be using the pistol heavily outdoors possibly in rain, you may want to consider the Kimber Target stainless pistol in 10mm. Stainless steel will resist water much better than carbon steel.

So you Colt / Kimber owners. Which do you prefer? Why?
S-80 on the Delta Elite is standard on most Colts, so its not an issue to take down to bare frame for cleaning.
Never figured out how to take a Kimber S-II apart for bare frame cleaning, so for me its simple maintenance reasons.
Both will shoot exceptionally well, and I went the extra step and had nite sites and a ramped/fully supported Clark Customs bbl fitted to mine so I could shoot Undewood ammo.
And Underwood now says it's ok to shoot all there loads in the Delta now.
Yes I heard that also. But then I have been using Underwood in both Colt and Kimber without any issues what so ever.

Took it to the range today and went thru another 100 rounds. Love the way this gun shoots.
Then took it apart and cleaned it. Definitely more of a pain than most of the more mainstream guns now. But I was able to break it down, clean it well and get it back together much faster. Plus I had a scratch protector this time. Big difference... :)
