Hi Guys - I've been reloading 180 JHP with 6.2 grains of 800X for a nice plinking load at the range. What I hate is the 800X will not measure accurately through my UniFlow powder drop, so I trickle every round on my beam scale. I just set up a new Dillon 550 to increase my output for my 9, 45 and my 10. I'm using Unique in the 45 and it measures perfectly through both my RCBS UniFlow and the Dillon powder drop. Want to switch away from the 800X to Unique for my 10 as well. I am finding huge differences in the manuals for start and max loads. Lyman has a 5.8 > 6.7 range, Hornaday shows 5.8 > 7.1........, the Alliant site shows 8.0 at 1,138 fps. Some of the Google searches I've done show guys going using up to 8.5 in one instance. Last night I loaded up 50 rounds, CCI 300's, 180JHP's and Unique starting at 7.0, and each 10 rounds I went up 0.2 grains until I maxed out at 7.8. Shooting in a standard Gen3 Glock 20. Do any of you guys have any concerns with what I've loaded up? Thanks and hope your all having a Great 4th of July !!
The data I have at 7.0 grains @ 1125 fps with a pressure of 35,700 PSI
But here is Speer Data using more Unique 8.0 but only making 1138 fps

Thanks, that is the same thing I just added to my original post from the Alliant Powder Reload Recipes page. 180gr Speer GDHP, 1.25OAL, CCI300, 8 grains of Unique, 1,138fps. That matches the page you posted so I am still at .20 below these two :)
Tell me you live in Texas so i can gift you 6 lbs of unique im not gonna use...
Punisher, Welcome to the forum! Generous offer, Texas is quite big though. 8)
If I use Unique it's 8 grains over 180 gr cast bullet and it's @ 1140 fps a good load for plinking, but If I am going to shoot a 10mm I want a little more so I will use Blue Dot or 800x and that keeps me happy :)

Wish I lived in Texas. :o
I have used 7.0 of Unique with a lead 180 grain bullet quite a bit for a plinking load. More powder did not seem to do much through my guns. There was a time not to long ago when all I had was a few powders on hand and had to do a lot of experimenting.
